When I looked at them a few years ago, they seemed way overpriced. The homeless people in Denver build similar shelters alongside the river with $3 worth of blue tarps.
You'd like the little community across the Rio Grande, west of Taos which is completely off the grid. Lots of earth sheltered homes built from recycled materials.

You're in America - go with the teepee if you want the luxurious life.

I want a 5k sf water front house with a 600amp service, enough AC capacity to hang meat in my bedroom, and a 2in city water line and city sewers hooked up.

I'm about as far away from a hippie as you can get.

Let me know when you find out how much 600 amps and a 2" water service costs if you still want them.

When my personal helicopter runs out of fuel I find it easier to just buy a new one.

a good friend of mine bought a yurt last year with his wife, fixed it up to be a little more than a yurt, planted a HUGE garden around it, and started immediately turning a profit: http://rentalo.com/303044/climbing.html

who'd of thought the old bass player for defunct Dissucks would be doing that in the future? so crusty: http://www.myspace.com/dissucksband

yurts are great to visit.....

I do know, and yes I still want them. I think my 65ft Rybovich would look just killer sitting offshore.

Central vacuum and a cleaning lady, who cares how long it takes her, as long as she's done before Hattie gets back in from the water.

Yep, that earthship community is pretty cool.

Yurts have become kind of trendy, and as a result overpriced. I've put up a couple for people, and no matter how you slice it, they are basically tents. Not really a substitute for permanent construction.
