*** Those Chicago Politicos! They're such a hoot!!! ***

Subject: Replacing Michelle in Chicago--her half-time position and outrageous salary!!

At the top right hand corner of Page 17 of the New York Post of January 24th, 2009, was a short column entitled "Replacing Michelle" in the National Review "The Week" column. Here it is, word for word, as it appeared:

Some employees are simply irreplaceable. Take Michelle Obama: The University of Chicago Medical center hired her in 2002 to run "programs for community relations, neighborhood outreach, volunteer recruitment, staff diversity and minority contracting".

In 2005, the hospital raised her salary from $120,000 to $317, 000 nearly twice what her husband made as a Senator.

Oh, did we mention that her husband had just become a US Senator? He sure had. Requested a $1 million earmark for the UC Medical Center, in fact. Way to network Michelle!

But now that Mrs. Obama has resigned, the hospital says her position will remain unfilled. How can that be, if the work she did was vital enough to be worth $317,000?

We can think of only one explanation: Senator Roland Burris's wife wasn't interested. Let me add that Michelle's position was a half time, 20 hour a week job. And to think they were critical of Blagoyovich's wife for taking $100,000 in fuzzy real estate commission.

Question: How did this bit of quid pro quo corruption escape the sharp reporters that dug through Sarah Palin's garbage and kindergarten files?

Chicago politics is the benchmark for US politics didn't you know? They even have a Mayoral wing at the State pen.

kknudson 06-08-2009 08:47 PM

Yea I made some comments about Chicago / Illinois politics.

Really though it's not much different anywhere, it used to be an honor to server as a politician, now it's a money grab.

I did though have high hopes for OB, although did not vote for him.

Funny though he pounded the table that he and his staff would hi light or whatever any of these funds that were not well spent.
We haven't heard him mention a single bit of these spending things that aren't being well spent. If you believe that .....

Of course here in Illinois, his home state, our politicians have been trying to produce Ethics bills (Isn't it a shame we even need them), trying to come up with a state budget (We're deep in the hole too).

So the feds throw a pile of money at out state reps, they sure found the time to spend it.

250 k to replace a roof on a CHURCH
450 k for improvements to a YMCA
25 k for the Boy Scouts
Not to mention 40 MILLION for a college here in the city of Chicago (I never heard of it) it has a 16% graduation rate.

Now I'm not knocking the money for the church, the Y or the Boy Scouts.
But I am knocking GOVERNMENT Money, My Money, if I choose to donate to a charity it should be my choice.

You're right...maybe I should have left the "Chicago" part out of the title...it could be any city anywhere in the US...we just have gutless, syncophant press-plebes running around like little puppies just waiting for the Mama Bi*ch to let them suckle...if you p*ss her off, you don't get to eat...

Ahh, yah...right...that and the promise that the sun would rise in the West...all shall come true 'cause the Great and Mighty "O" has spoken...

We're waiting for the puppies in the press-Corp to grow some 'nads and start digging up the real stink...too soon to pull the curtain back on the Great and Powerful "O"...

Let's see if there's ANYONE that can name ANY STATE that has a workable (meaning: FUNCTIONING PROPERLY) Ethics bill in place at this time...

Right now, you have ACORN, under the guise of GABRIEL and its little sub-division branches running around the country, infiltrating Catholic Churches, and related religious institutions, setting up sub-culture programs within the framework of the churches themselves and intimidating anyone that points out that these sub-organizations are getting their marching orders from ACORN and not being subservient to the Churches true teachings and practices...most pastors and Fathers have no idea this is going on 'til they're too far involved and are unwilling to shut down the programs because they're too pridefull to admit they got hoodwinked by ACORN...

Politics infiltrating religion...through the back door...

It's happening...just watch your church's program bulletins and watch the Womens' Divisions of the churches...these programs appear to be geared to helping the homeless and less fortunate, but they are paying lip service to these folks and looking to get a foothold in each and every church they are allowed in...and the individuals that recognize them for the wolves they are, are bad-mouthed and spoken ill of in the community...in an attempt to disgrace them within their own church and disrupt the membership...nobody wants to be labeled a racist or worse yet, wishing ill on their human counterparts...but listen closely to those that are aligned, themselves, with these ACORN-spawned programs and you'll see it happening...very subtle doings with very lasting and disruptive results...

Nasty!

To bad you Republicans weren't so critical of Bush. If you all hadn't defended his lies and failed policies maybe Obama and Pelosi wouldn't be where they are today.

Ahhhhh, like we voted for those two?

I don't think so...if you have such a low opinion of "O" and "P" - take a deep hard look at the mirror and get back to us as to how they're doing...now's the time to do what we, the Republicans, failed to do...be the men you say we aren't and take a swing at WHAT'S WRONG RIGHT NOW...not what happened 5 years ago, let alone 9, or more, years ago...and let's make sure it doesn't get any worse...NOW!

I don't think the American public has the wallet to stand this any longer...

RichC 06-09-2009 08:05 AM

Where do you guys find all this spin ?

Its almost like the Colbert Report sometimes.

I cant tell if your comedians, or just seriously misguided.

RichC 06-09-2009 08:09 AM

I caught one of you guys on the radio the other day.

You made a "de facto" vote for O and P by voting for Bush. Had Republicans not kissed ass instead of demanding more from Bush, O and P might not be in power today. And if Bush and the Republicans spent the $2-3 trillion dollars we're spending on Iraq here in this country, we wouldn't be spending so much now. You have no one to blame but yourself.

tankdriver 06-09-2009 05:32 PM

That's an 'article' interestingly sparse on details.

-------------------------------------

This is what happens when you cherry pick your arguments.

Did you ever think that the UC Medical Center has gotten what you call "Earmark" money many times before employing Michelle Obama and has afterwards.

This is a case of gross misconduct from the media.

Not a case for political corruption.

The author from the times needs to redact what was said and offer an apology.

And I think the OP need to do the same for spreading this kind of balatently falce politically biased bull.

kknudson 06-09-2009 11:23 PM

Ok discount the "Earmark".

Let's see, he was an Illinois State Senator, and she had a job earning 120k PART TIME.

And it was raised to 320k Part Time

And now that SHE can't do the job, no one else can.

But here in Illinois that is quite normal.

Let's see

Jesse Jackson Jr. is paying his wife mid 6 figures from his campaign fund. Yes it is legal.

Blagos wife received real estate commissions. coincidentally only from politically connected folks.

Mayor Daley's nephew invested 50k in a company, then it suddenly got a big city contract. Oh he invested 50k when was a sophmore in college.

The City councilman got his brother a job, as head of streets. Got him on film sleeping on the job.

Cook County Commisioner Stroger hired a guy he played basketball with (he was working as a bartender) 50k, 6 weeks later got a promo to 65k, several months later 89k. OH then they found out that Strogers Sister in law, the county CFO, had bailed the guy out of jail SEVERAL times on battery charges. Oh yea, it finally came out he had several felonies !!!! and convientently did not list them on his application. Yes he and the sister in law were fired. Stroger who got the job by being annoited by his father went duh duh duh ......

kknudson 06-09-2009 11:33 PM

Oh wait.

What about the Judge downstate.

Some business gave him, directly and indirectly, 3 Mill to get elected.

Get's elected, immediately rules on a case against the business and of course finds them NOT Guilty. It would have been 50 mill. The State Supreme court just threw out his ruling saying HE should have excused himself.

You're right...we were listening to the Leftowacks scream about the lies and failed policies that no one wanted, but they still went ahead and voted and funded them anyways...

Now, some on the Left are screaming that the "annointed one" isn't blessing the "specials" fast enough and they're screaming like little children... :D

In the meantime, everyone is trying to find some rock to bury their gold bars under 'cause what's left of the money system isn't going to be worth a loaf of moldy bread in about a year...

Even Bush had enough respect for the American People not to rip them off to this tune...

"O" and Michelle hate this place...it's the voting idiots that put them in the WH, Reid and Pelosi in their places and GOD help us when the SC gets screwed up...

Then again...

Having an all-hairball fractionist SC might not be a bad idea...nothing could get done 'cause all 9 nutballs wouldn't even begin to agree on what time and date they should convene court, let alone agree on what cases they might want to listen to... ;)

You really believe what you are saying dont you ?

Sometimes I swear your a comedy writer.

You imply that obama has caused the problems with the economy.
You must really think he is the "annointed one" if you believe he brought down our economy in 200 days.

And you say Bush had the respect to not rip us off.
What do you think the Iraq war cost us ?
Do you think we would be a little better off if we could have used the money we spent
in Iraq to help solve problems here.

The bush era republicans drove the bus off the cliff and in mid air handed it to obama.
Now your whining about how he hasent made the bus fly yet.

Quit complaining and do something yourself.

And please stop watching faux news and friends.
And reporting every story back to the forum.
If I wanted to listen to that tripe, I would labotamize myself and turn on the tube.
