A tattoo has been described as "a permanent answer to a temporary feeling"

I thought of that before you posted in this thread too. You need to get yourself a tribal style grass tattoo and head out next year.

a tattoo is a sign of... too much money, too few brains, too much free time..

(and lots of regrets later)

None of these narrow minded views apply to this tattooed individual.

The grass idea is an intriguing one! I'm still trying to come up with something kids related. A Ds awareness ribbon is an obvious one for G but I'd like to have something pertaining to all 4 kids. Got any ideas?

Certainly not my sister or her huge circle of friends either. Not only that, quite possibly the nicest, most generous group of people I've had the pleasure of meeting.

Different strokes for different folks. Just because you don't like them, doesn't mean there's something inherently wrong with them.

Personally, I feel that I am too fickle to make that kind of commitment to a certain look. I still find them fascinating, and I enjoy hearing some of the stories behind them.

My little sis' latest, a tribute to her late fiance who was a Lucha Libre fan. The stitches on the mask mimic the one's from his surgery. Ironically, a good friend of hers had a stroke and also had surgery in the same spot so it's two-fold. The ladder in the background is also a tribute, it's a FD ladder truck (he was a firefighter) with a pinup girl climbing the ladder up to the clouds. They have a lot of meaning to her and she thought long and hard when designing them.

Mine still need to be business casual friendly.

sorry to offend, but it's "self harm", as the english say, i.e. self mutilation.

I'm not offended.

I also don't see a tattoo as harm or mutilation. My tattoo doesn't hinder me in any way and didn't cause any disability.

I think facial tattoos could be seen with your lens though. As could certain piercings, scarification and implants.

I'm just amazed that some people who won't commit to a paint color will go out and get a tattoo on the spur of the moment...

Tattoos are portable art ,a cultural iconography that explains the history of an individual or group of individuals.
