Sounds like they're trying to give you a message to me. They either don't want you, or don't need you.....either way they want you to quit. That way they won't have to pay you through their share of the unemployment benefits with the state. Companies do not continually cut an employee's pay unless they want them to leave on their own. It's a brilliant tactic to avoid paying unemployment to you. I'd of been gone 3 pay cuts ago, IIWM.

If they really want you to quit, quit on them. The way you do it is find yourself another job. That way you CAN tell them that they cannot call your current employer. Get yourself a new job and then the day before you start, give your 14 hr notice. You want to be professional, right?

Well a few added details.

Turns out most people are getting their pays cut this Friday. Only they are being told before its implemented for next week. I'm just ticked because mine got cut last week and I was never informed. Trust me its been a complete roller coaster ride so far and i've stuck with it. Who knows, if one or two people leave maybe the cuts will truly be temporary. I'm not going to be one of them though.

That's strange to me. I don't think the way you do about my own company. I gleefully run it precisely the way I want to.......no second guessing what someone else wants me to do. It's liberating running your own company, AND it pays very well, is what I've found after so many decades on my own. If you're beleaguered and not getting satisfaction from your own company, you may have other issues. I dunno.......

With all the **** this company has put me through I could care less about checking up on the thread every few minutes. Besides, I need to have something to do while my work computer loads....

I am not antagonizing you. Just raising the issue that it is often that employees feel they are 'owed' something by their employer. Its a matter of self preservation, I don't hold it against you.

If your boss sat next to you all day, would you have maintained this thread?

At this current time, perhaps you should feel privileged to have a steady job? I am working on my second Bachelors and not having much luck.

edit** however, what they did was totally wrong!

Wasn't antagonized at all and trust me they owe me like you can't imagine. And yes if they sat there I would still maintain the thread.

(Don't worry I just don't think you've read my story that some of the other guys are aware of)

Yes, I can run it the way I want to and I don't have anyone telling me what to do. That is the good side. My point is that there is a not so good side to it. It's not all fun and games. Certainly the start up was not. Take employee waste for instance. Last time, WGAS. Hell, I probably participated in it myself. Today, waste is one of my concerns. Yesterday, I didn't care that the internet was down. Means I get paid to sit around. Today, the web based apps will not work and I am on the phone screaming for someone to fix it. Any way you cut it, there is way more responsibility being your own boss. My job is a means to an end. It is there for me to pay for my toys. It is not my life. It just happens that I can do it well and get paid and it is pleasant FOR THE MOST PART. But again, there are also unpleasant parts to it. Nothing is pure joy.

As to whether it would be better for the OP to start his own business, I don't know. Depends on his make up and what he is trying to achieve.

I say one is enough for the task. I wouldn't want to be a contributing factor to any deliquency. Ha!
