Cash for clunkers. Does my car qualify for it?

Well as some of you may know our winter SUV is old an needs to go soon. 1995 GMC SUV with 88,000 miles on it. We are looking to trade in for something like a Jeep Compass or a Toyota Rav-4.(Might try Japanease car again after awfull luck with an Ininiti Q45) Something along those lines. Cheap and stripped down because it only gets used 4 months out of the year. Does a 1995 GMC SUV that gets around 18mpg qualify for the "Cash for Clunkers"? Anyone use the CFC yet? Lets hear about it.

How ironic.

A 1995 MB (any model) with 88K miles would be considered a creampuff!!!

That is true but a 1995 GMC SUV. Not so much a good car at all.

Also looked into one of them Suzuki SUV's as well. I would stay with an American car but they do not produce anything that would qualify for the program I don't think.

I would stay away from Suzuki anything. They are all rebadged something else, or junk. Its a brand thats hanging on by its finger nails in the US.

The Honda CRV and Rav4 are the best of the little SUV's. Unless you get a Subaru.

18mpgs or less, and the new car has to get 4mpg better for $3500 or 10mpg better for $4500. However, if your GMC is classified a truck, then you only need only 1/2mpg better in the new car.
