Opinions on w124 euro lights

I have a glacier white 300e, and was thinking about upgrading to euro headlights. I want an updated look, but all the ebay ads make all the different styles look quite ghetto, which I'm trying to stay away from. Do you guys have any recomendations on some new headlights that are affordable (~$200) that keep the car at least somewhat classy looking? Please post pics if you feel inclined to do so. Thanks, guys.

A good set of used Bosch or Hella are the way to go. I have used Bosch on my W126 I bought on ebay for $150. That has been one of the best upgrades I did. I enjoy driving at night where there are no streetlamps and can revel in how much better they are than my brothers toyota land cruiser! They make the car look so much better too, especially if the plastic doors are all yellowed out over the years.

personally I prefer the original type cause they hide scratching and pitting a little better.

These lights on my car are probably 20 yrs old and still put out good light and look good. I'm not sure what those clear ones look like in 5 yrs. Are they plastic?

Those look like knock-off euros. Get a set of real Bosch units.

The Bosch or Hella units are undoubtedly the best, but very hard to find unless someone is auctioning off an extra pair on eBay or CraigsList.

The next best is Depo (readily available on eBay) and most run for around $200 (not incl. shipping). Those here that have those units say that they are okay, quality-wise.

I had the opportunity to do the conversion after my W124 suffered front-end damage. The body shop balked at attempting the conversion so I stuck with OEM.

After they screwed up one of the headlight harnesses and couldn't figure out how to fix it, I took the car home and dismantled both lights to determine the cause. I corrected the harness (wired backwards), but most importantly, saw how easily I could have done the Euro conversion myself.

So I'm getting Depos soon and deleting the wipers. Mine don't work anyway...

DO IT!!!!

You will not regret it!

When did your 124 get a boo-boo? Was it before or after I saw it last summer?

As for the lights, stick with glass euro lights.... I have the Hella Euros on the wagon, but Depos are good too.

The Depo might be what I do. Can I keep my fancy shmancy headlight wipers with these?

they say on the W124 you have to delete them. I dont know if thats true, but probably. I have never seen wipers on with them or without euro type wipers.

How would that work (deleting)? Would you have to replace it with a solid bezel or cap the hole or something? on a side note, can I just do new healight doors on the existing lights, or are they more of a 1piece unit. I see replacement doors on ebay, but I would be concerned that I would be getting plastic (not that they're not plastic now)...

I would go with the either Depo, Bosch, or Hella Euros.... They look the best, and IMO perform the best.

As for the panel under the lights, you get the panel under the lights without holes for like $15 per side from the dealer.

I probably wouldn't buy a set of Depo headlights again. The ones I had on my W123, while they looked good and everything, were impossible to align because the adjustment screws did not work at all. These Asian-made headlights are half the price of the real Bosch ones and there's usually a good reason for that. There were some other people with the same problem but I dont know if anyone ever came up with a solution. So i had one headlight pointed down and one headlight pointed up. The Hella e-code round headlights I had before were much better and 1/4 price.
