What BHO's hero said....
You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence. You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves. |

Barack Hussein Obama is a fan of Presbyterian minister William J. H. Boetcker?

Don't feel too bad, President Reagan and PM Thatcher fell for it too:
The Democrats, Ronald Reagan told the Republican National Convention, have a lot of gall. "They even tried to portray themselves as sharing the same fundamental values of our party! What they truly don't understand is the principle so eloquently stated by Abraham Lincoln: 'You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot help the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer. You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves." Reagan's rail-splitter rhetoric brought an Astrodome full of Republicans to their feet--and had historians shaking their heads in dismay. "Anyone who knows Lincoln," says Gabor Boritt, who heads Civil War studies at Gettysburg College, "knows that that wasn't Lincoln." Reagan isn't the first to swallow the bogus lines. His friend Margaret Thatcher repeated them only a year ago. But Reagan stopped short of using all 10 Boetcker axioms. The man who inherited a $1 trillion federal debt and left one nearly three times as big didn't repeat No. 6--"You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income"--or No. 8: "You cannot establish sound security on borrowed money." No he has not as far as I know quoted what I posted, but it's well known that our Pres does like and considers AXL a hero of his. Since he is a hero of his I thought I'd shed some light on what Lincoln also thought. Conventional thought says AXL was XXXX and this would have shown he had a side others did not know about. If AXL had also said what I posted then perhaps people would take a second thought about quoting either AXL or BHO, and would be less inclined to put blind faith into what someone says.
MTI corrected myself, which is great. I don't put emotion in my logic- it makes for irrational decisions. (Obviously many people do, which is one of reason we have f&^ked up politicians- too many people vote out of emotion.) Kinda rude of him to add the dog and cat poster, but it shows his smallness. I have no beef with MTI, nor 450SLC, but his (450) comment was plain rude and uncalled for, and did not do anything but personally insult me, I've reported it an hope he gets a warning. Quite similar to my deleted thread of showing the uncanny similarities between Hitler in the early years and BHO now. Why it was deleted I'm not sure. Winston Churchill was shouted down for showing the exact same thing before Hitler became a monster, so in a way the thread deletion even furthers the original point of the thread that people turned their back to clear thinking. I'm a middle of road guy- our last pres was an idiot, and BHO I believe will not turn out much better. McCain was about a middle as a politician could get. Wild swings in the political world are highly detrimental to the USA IMHO. When it swings back to the right I'll be considered a leftie pinko I'm sure by many, just as some on the left now stoop to insult me for no reason. Last edited by MTUpower; 07-18-2009 at 05:06 PM. |

The reasoning behind my statement is based on a observation that many folks who are fortunate enough to have all the good things in life are constantly bashing those that are not as fortunate. Many hard working people in this country are struggling to keep their job, have roof over their head and put food on the table. Take for one example, health insurance. I'd venture to say those who have coverage mostly receive it from their employer as a benefit at little or no cost to them. That's a good thing that many don't appreciate because they've never had to do without.... but times are changing. Use to be, not that long ago, if you worked full time, irregardless of your job title or grade level, you received decent health insurance. Not anymore. Many tens of millions in this country no longer receive those benefits because they lost their job, or their employer can't afford to provide them anymore. I hear and see many people objecting to a national health plan. They call it socialism, welfare, or whatever derogatory remark they can think of. But little do they realize that one day, they might loose those benefits, as has happened to 10's of millions of people in this country. Loose your jobs, loose your benefits. I'd be willing to bet that many people who are against some sort of national health care would change their tune real quickly if all of a sudden they found themselves without employer paid health care. All of a sudden they'd realize that if they, or a family got sick, they could loose everything they've worked for all their life. Or even worst, they could die. So perhaps my original comment was a bit harsh, maybe even been a bit insulting to those who don't realize how fortunate they really are. If that is insulting to you, so be it.

As for what people could or should do for themselves, people can sorta act as their own lawyer, but acting as your own doctor is not so easy. Hippocrates did say "physician, heal thyself" and there's a lot to be said for that in terms of lifestyle and diet choices but there's a lot in medical care that has to be administered by someone else with specialized training. If some of the rich are rich through insurance chicanery, of the AIG or Bill Frist and family HMO type, I say tear the basitds down. That's not legitimate wealth.
