Another toy...

I'm going to buy one of these next year if the price is sane. HK can be a SOB on pricing their guns. So hopefully its not $3k+.

http://www.hk-usa.com/mr762_general.asp

Since I can't have a FN Fal in CT, and an M14 is kind of old fashion, I'll get this. I would have bought a 416 but you simply cannot get them yet. I like push rod rifles, this design really is the future, I bet our currant M16's are replaced by a design like this firing the 6.8 in the next 10-20 years. Not only do they run cleaner, but they require less lube than a gas blow back M4/16. And in the desert oil turns to paste with the fine dust.

Guns kill people. All guns should be eliminated, if you want to fight/attack it should be the old fashioned way!

Yeah its pretty nice, I want a full power round. I hear on the gun forums from LEO's who have access to 416's that they are animals. I guess they just devour horrible ammunition and abuse and keep on asking for more. From what I have been hearing you probably couldn't make one choke on a couple thousand rounds of the cheapist Soviet block crap you can dig up. They just don't foul that bad, pull the trigger and it goes bang.

I'm thinking a Magpul stock and a Zeiss scope would be very nice on the HK.

I already have a Magpul and EOTech HOLO sight picked out for the Sig.

Squirrels ?

'Nice Rifle.

(There's even a local dealer...Nah, It'll probably be special order only)

How would you compare it for:
"Stomped in the Dirt, and then Dropped in the Mud" durability with an AK ?

Probably not far off from the AK durability wise. But far, far more precise. The HK is good to 800 meters, something an AK was never built for.

The reason the AK is so reliable if you fill it up with mud is because its lose as can be. But that also causes it to suck as a rifle, you can't hit anything. I don't know I'm still not a fan of Soviet block guns. I almost bought a Dragonuv insted of the Sig, but the quality isn't even close. The SIG OTOH uses a highly refined AK bolt, with a FN Fal gas piston system, so it should do pretty well. Not sure what the HK uses, I'd guess its like a G3.

These things are pretty pricey these days so I plan on keeping them nice and clean. I can't see throwing a $2k gun into the mud.

Paper targets is my guess. They have thick hides that require maximum penetration

But it all seriousness a 7.62 mm round is powerful but nowhere near as powerful as most hunting rounds.

I think HKs are cool but a bit overrated, apart from the MP-5.

Stupid CA, I want to shoot a full auto MP5.

Paper targets.

Ammo is so pricey these days it won't get shot much. 7.62 rounds are about 60 cents each.

My friend is going to buy a GSG-5 which you can get for about $600 these days. Since its .22LR you can actualy still afford to shoot it. If I like it, I'll get one too. You CA should look at these, I think they are CA legal.
