Where do the old new cars go?

I assume that dealerships never sell 100% of their new inventory.
In 07, they have leftover 06's.....In 09 they have leftover 08's

What happens to the built-up early 2000 cars? Do they hang onto them or what?

I would imagine that if they don't sell in the usual way they would eventually auction them to the used car dealers. I do know that my dad bought a brand new '58 Plymouth in 1960.

They blow them out at the end of the year.

This is actualy becoming quite a problem with boats. Most "new" boats you see at the shows this year were made in 07 or 08. Just never sold...the sales guys get kind of annoyed with you read the year off the tag on the transom and ask them for a discount since the boat is almost 3 years old.:D I have noticed this on outboards as well, some are selling 2006 manufacture 2 strokes as new.

well technically it is "new"

it hasnt been used. It has been sitting on a shelf.. so maybe its NOS?

I would think they mark em down to an offer you can't refuse. I've been looking at new fusions and Mazda 3's and I can't even find an 09 anywhere.

I remember someone at work bought an 'old' new car. It has set still for nearly a year. New tires had to be put on it because they had flat spots from setting so long.....addition cost/loss

The dealership I used to work at would cut their losses and sign them over to wholesalers.
