Odds of something nice here.

So...
There have been smoke free days – Where folks that smoke try to go a day without.
There are black out days – Where everyone shuts the lights out for a few hours during the day.
Carpool days.
Plant a tree day.
All sorts of special “lets do a good thing” days throughout the year.

I’m wondering what the odds of this forum having a “Nothing political at all day.”
Or, maybe a “Nothing but nice things to post to one another day.” are.

Any chance?
Or, am I nuts to even think it?

WVOtoGO 08-04-2009 10:31 PM

The census here is: I'm nuts.

R Leo 08-04-2009 10:51 PM

Why bother wishing for something that's impossible?

davidmash 08-04-2009 10:53 PM

I love you man (in a non-homosexual comrade kind of way.... group hug.

you're nuts. I would like to see more smoke free days in my life though.

Actually, I've observed a marked increase in respect between members over the past two months.

The level of infractions or warnings is down to a negligible level and folks appear to respect other opinions to a reasonable level, even when they don't agree with them.

Politics is always going to introduce some emotions into the mix..........it's the nature of the beast..........because there is no absolute answer.

You're right. It never fails to surprise me after reading posts by members in the car forums where everthing is helpful, comrade-ly, supportive, etc., to then read posts from some of these same guys in the Open Discussion forum. Where did they leave their helpful, accommodating nature?

tbomachines 08-05-2009 09:32 AM

Politics is so embedded in our culture that its nearly impossible to avoid. We can go on and try to talk about something for a day but some comment will cause someone else to disagree, then all hell breaks loose. I think its a good opportunity to see conflicting viewpoints and shows the great freedom that we have in America (and on the internet!) - free speech. Sometimes people can get sour over those who disagree but I think we're generally pretty civilized here.

I'm guilty of the same behavior. Although I cannot explain it, some of the political positions cause an emotional response that is neither appropriate nor helpful.

I assume that this behavior is common in most people.

I attempt to avoid all political discussions for this reason...........not always successfully.

Ok. We’ll go with that.
I think Randy’s post (#3) probably covered it best.

I understand the “nature of the beast”.
I just thought it would be interesting to see if this forum could make it one day without anybody *****’n about the government in one way or another. I guess not.

I’ll go back to wishful thinking and just being nuts.

So long as the government keeps letting me fly, I’ll be happy nuts. :D

Carry on with the geez’n.

BTW, I don't disagree with the sentiment. ;)

Which is why I really try like heck to avoid the political threads, although it does seem to find its way into virtually every thread regardless of subject.

Im going with "Your Nuts."

(There is no political crud in this thread... Yet.)

Mike D 08-05-2009 03:58 PM

I couldn't let it go for too much longer. I know why Aklim spends so much time shaving his, err, well you know, "It's Bush's fault"! Does that count as both a political post and a bad joke?

Lesbians against Bush is mutually exclusive. Isn't it all about bush against bush?

Maybe they shave too? :D

TylerH860 08-05-2009 05:06 PM

That reminds me of a time I saw Bush Sr. speak 3 or 4 years ago. He had plenty of great little stories and anecdotes, but this one stuck in my head.

He was in his presidential limo traveling somewhere shortly after making pro-life remarks in support of something in the state. When he arrived at his destination, there were droves of women protesting. Apparently a hideous, unkempt, burly woman got way too close to him and yelled, "Stay the hell out of my womb!"

Bush responded, "Hey, no problem lady." :D

That’s one of the things that brought this to mind.
And sure enough...

I’ll admit I had no idea it would go into the details of shaving ones junk in the shower however.

But then, when Aklim jumps onboard, nothing down those lines surprises me.

Whose nuts are you referring to when you say "your nuts"??? Or did you mean to say "you're nuts"? Perhaps a Freudian slip?:D

Seig Heil? Is that the right greeting? :D

t walgamuth 08-06-2009 06:45 AM

I've never really enjoyed shaving my face. The attraction of shaving the working parts of the sexual devices has really always escaped me. The danger of stubble would simply create another place that needs shaving daily and one that is fairly tricky to shave to boot.

Fur is fine with me.

Many of the posters here in OD do not post much at all in the helpful forums.

Mike D 08-06-2009 10:08 AM

Actually here is where we get to post to soothe our alter-egos. We play nice and helpfull on the other boards and we need someplace to restore our "evil side" equilibrium.

And OD isn't helpful? I've uncovered a treasure trove of knowledge and helpfulness here.

Check it out:
Jo-burg
Visa card compromised
Windmill
F250 seat
Tractor hydraulics

We ALL suffer from some degree of the Dr. Jeckell/ Mr Hyde syndrome.

Can I get a grant to study that? PP would be my universe, and I'd share the grant with you all ( If the grant is large enough....)

I'm emailing you a ~30 sec. MP3 file of the result of this post.
It’s what happens when our worlds collide inside a helicopter.
Hope you like it. ;)
