I was never a fan, but seeing this makes me feel a little less annoyed at the endless string of AARP advertisements i receive.

Anyone here a member? Do they really offer useful discounts for insurance and other services?

I refuse to join.......on principle.......

Some day, I'm sure I'll lose the principle.

Me too. I don't like AARP's political bent. I do not want my dues supporting a "special interest group"--lobbyists, with which I disagree.

What is your principle objection--I would have thought you approved of their platform.

Color me "surprised".

I dislike the fact they contact you on your 50th Bday. 50 doesn't feel "old".

That usually doesn't start until you start losing the ability to "feel."

The principle is much simpler. If I join, I admit to being part of the "old retired group".........and I refuse to admit to that.........yet.

For some reason, my wife was excited when we turned 50 and immediately joined AARP. I will admit, the discounts are decent. I also like their publication as they are a very powerful lobby and keep us old farts informed.

Most of my favorite Rocks stars are either dead or eligible for social security benefits. I am also feeling old, but I suspect that I am younger than that Powerpig FOOL.

I was OK with my first kid going off to college. But now my 2nd one is heading off early to football camp, and I'm feeling downright wretched.

I was a member for a while.

I saved a few bucks with their perscription program.

I qualified because of disability.

Now I have other insurance, thru my wifes work.

Really liked AARPs help dealing with social security.

I would get a letter from SS then I would long onto the AARP website.

They had lots of stuff to help decode the gibberish in the letters from SS into something I could understand better.
