Again, do you or don't you know that the US prison system already houses 100's of convicted terrorists? I'm talking convicts, not mere suspects like most of those in Gitmo who were turned in for cash bounties by locals in Afghanistan.

Probably. I think even Obama himself acknowledges that possibility. That's partly why he ordered Gitmo closed and all its prisoners processed one way or another.

Prisons where their legal rights will more likely be respected. You do respect the US constitution, don't you? And no, it doesn't just apply to US citizens.

They have the same rights at Gitmo, Gitmo closure is symbolic nothing more.

Do they? I'm afraid you might be right. Some of these prisoners were subject to such abuse that they can never be tried in a normal court, but some of them can also never be released because of what they did. What a mess that Bush left for Obama. Yes, it's Bush's fault.

I am going to diverge a little.

There has been a rash of privatizing prisons in the last fifteen or twenty years. Since its now for profit, lots of cells were built.

All my lawyer friends will say (if there are no judges present) that the judges will fill all the cells available and more. Increase the number of cells available and the number of inmates will swell.

Capitalism at work.

As Arlo Gutherie would say..."that's america".;)

Tell your lawyer friends that there is a lot of bankruptcy work available if they are starving on title searches and closings;)

I can just picture a bunch of Arab terrorists being moved from the tropical paradise of Camp Gitmo, and dropped into a zero degree Michigan winter. The ACLU weenies will be screaming that Obama is torturing their poor innocent asses.


I say, move 'em up to Marquette prison. Let 'em find out what 30 below is like....

Great idea!

Just drop 'em off at 6 Mile and Grand River. Tell 'em to try to make it to the nearest mosque.

The locals will have 'em for lunch.....
