Like I need another reason to not fall off a ladder
I was helping a friend today and another friend came to see me.

Is that an angry bull?

He looks like he could hurt you even without horns!
Imagine facing off one weighing 1300# wearing razor sharp horns with nothing but a sword and a cloth cape to defend yourself. |

If you can grab the nose ring, you have complete control over the bull. But after falling off the ladder, that nose ring is going to be the furthest thing from your mind.
|
Don't try to milk him.

Who the hell told you that? And did you fall for it? Come on now...tell us the story...and how you lived through it. :D |

But you probably weaned/raised them with that ring and probably led them around with a lead rope for some time. Go grab an older one that has a bit of a mean streak in him. Slap a nose ring in him. Grab it and tell us what happened next. |
I believe you, that an old bull can withstand any pain from the nose ring and give you holy hell.
Our bulls were fairly young. When they started to get too old for the job, off to the packing plant they went. But no, I didn't train any of the bulls with a rope, but prior owners may have. We didn't raise any bulls from calfs, but bought them full-grown (but still fairly young). |
Cool.
We have a Reg. Black Angus cow/calf op here. (Primarily for the ag exemptions. We do lease land to neighbor ops as well.) So our bulls are either the rotated prize 3, or we lease them. The thing that has always blown my mind is when we go to the stock shows and see those little kids leading around 1300+ lbs by the nose. I can never get over a 4' 6" tall 10 year old 4-H or FFA girl leading around that size of animal as if it was a poodle on a leash. |
When a bull gets his mind focused on something all feelings of pain seem to disappear.
I once came upon an accident where a fellow took down a fence. There were two bulls, one on each side of the road. The bull with the fence down meandered over to the other side of the road where the other bull was on the other side of a barbed wire fence. They started pushing each other with their heads and the barbed wire simply disappeared for them. They were stretching it back and forth like so many bungee cords. An aroused bull is an awesome sight. ( I am not speaking of his member, just the anger managment part along with his awesome physical power) If I were a cow I would be very apprehensive of one. 'course if I were a cow I would probably be wired up for that sort of thing.:P |

Whenever I get a chance to go to Spain, I always try to see a bullfight, or 'corrida' as its called there. It's a fascinating spectacle. These guys might be wearing velvet tights..., but the guts they have...
