6 hours in a tin can

I can’t even fathom this happening.
I would have radioed that I was going to open the doors and let them jump out right there. As a PAX, I would have done the same. I’d rather spend the night in jail than in a CRJ for 6 hours on the ground.

Understatement of the day:
"There was a complete lack of common sense here," the secretary said. "It's no wonder the flying public is so angry and frustrated."

I would think the pilot could call 911 and get the police involved.

I would have, 6 hours is insanity. Its bad enough having to sit in an airport that long. (I had to sit in Atlanta last August for 14 hours because of multiple broken planes and delays.) The airline industry and system is a disaster. I'll take driving any day.

I'm really surprised the passengers put up with it for that length of time. I was once on a plane that got diverted to Pittsburgh because of thunderstorms in Philadelphia. We sat on the tarmac for a couple of hours and they wouldn't let us out. We then started taxiing and got stopped again. Finally they informed us that there wasn't enough fuel in the plane to get to Philadelphia and we had to go back to the gate. Passengers were getting very irate so they opened the door and let us out and told us we had to be back in X minutes.
I was completely fed up. Since Philadelphia was just a stop before my final destination in Rochester, my wife and I simply went to the counter and asked for a direct flight from Pittsburgh to Rochester.

Craigslist carpool for me. I've flown once in the last 7 years. Of course, my trips are always under 7 or 8 hundred miles during that time.

My only trapped on a airplane story is we were on a C-141 for 10.5 hours...now here is the catch we got on the plane at Howard AFB (Panama) after a grueling month of operations and fell asleep to find ourselves not back at Ft.Polk..still on the ground the plane never moved an inch. Gawd that was funny I still laugh about that to this day.

Did you already forget about NWA and the morass at Detroit? 6 hours was nothing...........IIRC, some of them were out there for 12 hours and there was no possibility of getting them in without some snow removal at the terminal area.

This one was just a bad situation whereby the airline had no station at this airport at that hour and had to rely on another airline...........who had no protocols. A diversion always results in problems for an airline...........some worse than others.
