If you thought the "NHAT" was aimed at you or anyone on this thread, you're wrong on that account...it was meant as a comment on the JJ-vs.-"O" and JJ's "nuts" comment. That's what surprised me...I don't remember hearing about that...I'd be interested in seeing when and where that popped up...

I understand why many will not forgive Ted Kennedy for what he did to Mary Jo Kopechne, but he had many admirable qualities. I don't think it is any accident that his office had a reputation for the very best constituent service of any Senator. He did not seek office to get power. Nor did he use his seniority in the Senate for the purpose of making himself more powerful, although he did become very powerful. Perhaps some of you who know more about him can tell me why I am wrong, but I believe he was there to serve. He constantly did good deeds without seeking publicity for it. He seemed like an uncommonly decent person.

Perhaps it is my Catholic upbringing, but I believe in redemption. I think Ted Kennedy did a lot to redeem himself after the terrible thing he did to Ms. Kopechne.

Hey, maybe someone close to his office can confirm what I just heard from the father of one of Teddy's office staffers around the time of 9-1-1.

It appears that Ted had a pet dog.

The dog's name?

"Splash"

Pretty funny, eh?

That Ted, he could take lemons and make lemonade outa' it...then piss in the glass and charge you 25 cents.

It was a comment made between interview segments, as I recall. JJ was mic'd up and made the comment during a break, or just before the interview began. He didn't realize the mic was on apparently, and whomever caught it in the control room leaked it. It's out there, and made waves when it happened.

That pretty much keeps JJ Sr. from getting carded at the Head-table at any State Functions for the rest of this term, let alone there being another term following this one, eh?

Geesh! You'd think someone would have learned that there are NO DEAD MICS when it comes to interviews?

Didn't anyone learn ANYTHING after Reagan's "...begin bombing Russia..." fiasco?

Hey! At least "O" didn't respond in kind with "Heimy Hater" or something to that effect, eh?

Well, you haven't been paying attention to THIS conservative. I have been very critical of G Bush's spending, as well as McCain's attack on the 1st amendment. But then those two were not "real" conservatives.
Repubs have a pretty good history of turning on their own--the ones who proclaim a form of morality while living quite a different lifestyle.

Oh, I'm sorry. I see I've distracted you from mourning a great man whom you admired. My bad.

FWIW

But JJ was an ass and a fool for saying it. BHO was right to point out that many in the black community need to step up to the plate instead of whining about past injustice.

The n-word bits aren't on that tape. Google it -- that utterance came later in his remarks. Nevertheless, he showed his true colors in the portion of the tape that WAS released, so your point stands.
