More hate! Or creative fundraising!

"CDP Office Vandalized
As some of our readers may already have heard, the CDP office was vandalized Monday night - nearly a dozen of our plate glass windows were smashed in, and staff arrived at work Tuesday morning to find broken glass all over the floor.
We don't know yet what the motive was for this vandalism. We do know it will be costly to replace all the windows in this office which CDP and Organizing for America staff and volunteers use every day. If you can make a small contribution to help, please go here:
http://www.coloradodems.org/contribute
We appreciate your support."

NBC Reports:

"Officials with the Democratic Party, however, think the vandals had a specific target: the posters stating the party's position on health care reform and images of President Obama.
It's unfortunate that people feel they must resort to violence and vandalism to get their point across," Pat Waak, chair and executive director of the Colorado Democratic Party, stated in a news release. "There are more constructive ways to discuss the health care insurance reform debate that lead to solutions. This is the most important debate in our lifetime and affects the lives of almost every citizen. We want to hear from everyone in a peaceful, civil way."

Think Progress reports:

"Colorado Democratic headquarters vandalized.
A “vandalism spree” hit the Colorado Democratic Party headquarters in Denver today, where the “vandal allegedly used a hammer to smash” 11 windows. Party Chairwoman Pat Waak attributed the violence to the intensity surrounding the health care debate, saying, “Clearly there’s been an effort on the other side to stir up hate. I think this is the consequence of it.” Waak estimated the damage at approximately $11,000. The Denver Police Department reportedly has a man in custody regarding the incident."

Colorado Blogger reports:

"Is alleged Colorado Democratic Party headquarters window-smasher Maurice Schwenkler a LIBERAL activist?"

What the...?

According to campaign finance records, someone named "Maurice Schewenkler" was paid $500 on November 6, 2008, by a group called the Colorado Citizens' Coalition. Judging by the contributors, this 527 political organization falls on the liberal side of the spectrum. How liberal? Contributors include Tim Gill ($12,500), the AFL-CIO ($25,000), NARAL ($12,500) and Pat Stryker ($75,000). The documents list Schewenkler's duty as "electioneering" and his purpose as "communication."

Michelle Malkin helps set the record straight and complete:

"State Democrat Party Chair Pat Waak refuses to apologize for smearing conservative town hall protesters and stands by her political attack:

I stand by my statement that I think there are people opposed to health care reform and there has been a lot of rhetoric that has prompted an atmosphere that I don’t think is constructive,” Waak said Wednesday. “It’s such a polarizing issue. It shouldn’t be.”

I don't know, and don't care, what happened in this story, but I did get a good laugh out of this part of your post:

As Larry the Cable Guy would say, "Now that's funny right there, I don't care who you are. That there is funny."

What's your point? That you don't care this happened because someone you dislike had something to say about it? Can you bury your head in the sand any deeper?

Why would you jump to that conclusion? I don't care about the story because I don't find it interesting. It's vandalism, probably with a political agenda attached. It is a shame that it had to happen, but I don't really see what's so interesting about it. I didn't say that others shouldn't take an interest. It just doesn't strike me as such an interesting story.

What are you talking about? What is so earth-shattering about this story?

And you don't see the humor in someone relying on Michelle Malkin to "set the record straight and complete"? Please. Can't we have some sort of standards around here?

From your commentary it's obvious you have thus far chosen to remain ignorant of the factual specifics detailed in the original articles, if you had chosen to abandon your "blissful" existence you would not deny the Ms. Malkin's article is both accurate and complete regarding the factual basis of the events detailed in the articles.

Maybe the minimum standard ought to be "read before"?

Pretty much.

There's a first time for everything.

I am happy to read things by credible authors. You seem to be falling into the "Fair and Balanced" trap where people are expected to listen to all sides of an argument, even when one side of that argument is made by a snake oil saleswoman like Malkin.

If you posted a political commentary by, say, Pee Wee Herman, I would be expected to read it before cracking any jokes about it? Is that the sort of standard you propose?

I'm still waiting for someone to explain why I should be interested in this story.

Rest assured, the thread was in no way started for your interest!

Hey, is that a new strategy of the left? When "dculkin" gets tired and worn you rename to "Honus"? Sort of like how the Dear Leader morphs H. R. 3200 America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 - Health Care Reform into becoming Health Insurance Reform!
