What does your significant other do when you go to the doctor?

I have a doctors appointment next Monday and the wife wants to come in to the examination room with me.
I'm not so sure I want her in there with me. What do you all think?

Danny

They have all stayed home, except if I would be unable or instructed not to drive home from an outpatient visit. (pacemaker replacement or cardiac cath for instance). But for office visits, no. I always go alone.

Only in a couple cases would it be appropriate:

1. You are a child or a senior citizen and can't be responsible for yourself.

2. The wife is a medical professional who can contribute to a discussion with the doc regarding some particular medical concern you have.

Otherwise, there's no real reason for her to be there. Just tell her to relax and you'll be right back.

On a related note, is the doc a hot female? Mine is... :) Makes the exam a little more interesting...

Prays for a fatal diagnosis?

The wife is there to answer any questions since she has already decided what I need and will comply with, etc, etc. I am there to rubber stamp whatever she decides.

Now if BHO could arrange for that kind of doctor, I'd be all over his healthcare idea, whatever it is.

:D

Amend that to "pays the doc for a fatal diagnosis!"

I don't let my wife take me to doctors anymore. She's a bit of a tightwad. The last doc she took me to see wanted to clip my nails and worm me! She took me and the dog on a 2 for 1 special night. She did roll down the window for me though!

I'd like to perform the pelvic and breast exams on her myself. She's welcome to come with me and perform my prostate exam if she wants. Hell, her finger is a LOT smaller than my regular doctor's is.

dannyman- unless your unconscious or have a list of meds you can't remember she needs to stay outside. There are certain things you might feel more comfortable about talking to your doctor with than the mrs.

unless it's life threatening, this is between the doc and patient. Isn't Cialis a hair tonic?

Not if the wife is unhappy with his "performance".

It can be used as a heart medication, I suppose. :D:D

Do you have a history of not telling her what the doctor said at previous appointments?

My grandmother would insist on accompanying my grandfather to the doctor because he would say everything was fine even though he was told he needed to start meds or make a change in his habits.
