I am officially against GM!

I took my Saab in for some warranty work, and was completely blown off with most all of it. The thing that really P'd me off was about the sound that I have coming from the rear (sounds like a bad bearing). Keep in mind I have 25k mi on the car, and it's 10 months old...it should be like new.
The guy at the dealer said it was the tires wearing unevenly, worn down to the wear marker and I should get 4 new tires and an alignment. I didn't get the tires, I wasn't believing what he was telling me from the get go. I went to pick up the car, drove it home and it was pulling hard to the right. I went to look, and not only are the tires fine (50% tread left), but there is a huge gouge out of my front drivers side tire and the rim is all F'd up! I went through corp to get the warranty work started, and told them about this...they said they had to pass this on to the district manager and that the warranty wouldn't cover tires. This has nothing to do with my warranty, this has to do with them destroying my tire/rim/alignment, then trying to charge me for it. Well, I haven't been able to get anybody on the phone that I have needed to for a few days, and the district manager hasn't called me back...I am really stewing over here. This isn't the only problems I have had with this trip, but it's what is really getting under my skin. I don't even know how you could make this kind of damage in a tire. As you can see, there are cords broken on the side...I am surprised I was able to make it home. Rant over. |
What else would you expect from "Government Motors".

This was a message to you - "don't come back with any more of your stupid problems". Homebuilders work something like this also. They put their WORST people on "punch-out" duty. That way, the homeowners realize that they had better fix things themselves.

He will have someone's head crushed by tank treads over stuff like this. I have seen this. It makes him crazy. Do it, get it fixed and get revenge. Just end your rant to him with " Semper FI" :D |
That sucks.
The problem is thats going to be hard to prove, they are just going to say you did it. |

Are you committing treason now? :D
I had the same type of issue when I was younger- and the squeaky wheel gets the grease was the lesson I learned. |

That is EXACTLY what you want to put in your rant |

BTW, attached are a shot of the tires that the guy said were worn to the limit after 25k mi. As you can see, there is still plenty there. |

I sincerely doubt that the dealer deliberately caused such damage........it would be very hard to accomplish that. Did you happen to notice how many miles the dealer put on the vehicle? |
Did you by any chance drive on any roads they just ground down? My uncle about a week after he picked up his new E350 did some very similer damage hitting a raised manhole, only much worse. He had to buy a new wheel and tire.
19in wheels plus low profile tires are not a good combo on rough roads. |

It is telling in that although the "guy at the dealer" commented on the condition of the tires as related to "wear" yet he failed to notice, or mention the obvious damage in your center picture. That fact set would make it illogical and extremely unlikely that "this damage had already occurred prior to the arrival at the dealer?" and not be noticed or mentioned. Good Luck with it! |
I'd ask them nicely once or twice. If that doesn't work then switch into ********* mode and make a scene in front of as many people as possible. Make sure the owner or manager is there for good measure. If your story is true, they need to fix it.
|
As BC asked, how can we be sure YOU didn't give them the car in that condition? How do we know that after you got it back, you didn't hit something? Did you inspect the car BEFORE you sent it in AND inspect it again AFTER you got it back while it was still in the lot?

I am pretty sure that with that much damage on the tire and rim, there would be sign of it on the side of the car. I will be the first to say that I am VERY nit-picky, but I DO NOT try to rip people off like that and I assure you, I would have noticed that kind of damage. I don't think it was a road on the way home, here in FL most of the roads get taken care of very well. |
