What was the MSRP? I have a feeling the dealer is going to gt shorted on that one.

450slcguy 08-29-2009 01:19 PM

It'll make a nice parts car.

Fulcrum525 08-29-2009 01:39 PM

You've got to be ****ting me....89,000 miles a wood steering wheel and euro lights? Someone deserves a slap upside the head for getting rid of that one...

Now then speaking of parts car....any idea when this happened and where the car is now?

Johnhef 08-29-2009 02:26 PM

Car is now in Rockville MD.

301-294-0000. their prices are sky-high.

HuskyMan 08-29-2009 02:31 PM

sad, they'd rather have the new improved clunker over a 560SEC. geez, I'd have given 'em $4,500 for that one..... perhaps a "save the mercedes from going to the clunkers program" needs to begin.....

Hatterasguy 08-29-2009 02:34 PM

Thats a waste, I'm kind of surprised more Mercedes didn't get it. The W126 is in that special place where its pretty worthless. Not old enough to be a classic, but to old to be worth much.

HuskyMan 08-29-2009 03:01 PM

I've had a few talks with some mercedes benz mechanics concerning cars like this. they've informed me that if people who own cars like a W126 560SEC wait a few years the car WILL be a classic and begin to INCREASE in value as a collectible. but, here in the home of the free and the land of the brave, some people would rather go for the "quick hit" and buy another detroit clunker.

I've run the numbers and a pre-1992 mercedes benz that is well maintained can enjoy low operating costs. the key is good maintenance but they will last and last and last. beats car payments any day.

tonkovich 08-29-2009 03:13 PM

i believe that car was about $80K (in 1989 dollars) when sold.

Hatterasguy 08-29-2009 03:51 PM

I hope they pull an R107 and start to go up in value, but thats not happening yet.

Although part of the process is that a lot of them need to get destroyed. As they become more rare the value increases.

Johnhef 08-29-2009 04:49 PM

The only cars we sell that qualified were Smart cars and the GLK350, so thats what all these 30 or so clunkers we got were traded in for.

I see none of them have bids. Gotta show the market is still soft.

John, I can feel your pain at having to watch that first hand. Shame you couldn't say it was traded in with no headlights or seats, or transmission, or etc..

Oracle12345 08-29-2009 08:35 PM

Some nice cars there
