I don't think poor people eating corn is of much concern regarding policy. There's no impetus for biofuels. Someone with lots of money needs to push it. Like T Boone Pickens, but he's put his money into wind, and already has his money in nat gas.

Gotta be consequences for somebody, somewhere, somehow.
I have heard around where I live the renders or collectors mix it in with animal feed. I think some of it can be filtered and reconditioned for reuse as fryer oil.

No, they just migrate, north, and provide cheap labor. I think this happens on both sides of the pond. So its a win-win, for the rich.

I really don't know either, and be assured, I wasn't looking for an argument! I was trying to raise the point that something must already be happening with the used oil, and that there would have to be consequences for somebody if it were mandated that the material now had to be processed in some particular way.

I'm not fundamentally against biofuels when they make sense, and I certainly favor recycling/reusing when they make sense. The details and unintended consequences, though, can get sticky. Sometimes it involves picking winners and losers.

I think any industry that directly contributes to the starvation of poor or the perception of starvation of the poor anywhere in the world will be a ticking time bomb for a politician. O has people who will tell him that but i think he is smart enough to know already. Bio already has caused a LOT of issues in Mexico where corn is a staple and has increased in cost by 10X over the past few years. so much so it has allowed the same elements of communism an inroad there similar to South America

The T Boone wind power initiative went belly up, last I heard you could pick up one of the 100 large wind turbines he ordered and could not cancel for a song.

Nobody cares about poor people in America. People hate them for abusing welfare.

Seriously though, the poor do not drive policy. Especially in 1st world countries.

I wouldn't go that far. There has been no real reform on imigration policies. Both parties try and court the latino vote. Still, they do have to pander to big buisness and such, as they have the money. No money, no TV adds. No TV adds, no way to spread propaganda.

I watched a movie about this exact topic, and they argue that we won't be using gas, diesel or batteries to power our cars, but we'll all be using some kind of fusion process that's powerful yet safe for the environment; here's a snapshot:
