CALLING ALL TEXANS!

What is the deal with the new license plate design? It looks horrible!!!! What part of Texas picked this plate?

I was all jazzed about getting the "now old" standard plate when I move over there but now it's this new one... ughhhh I might just have to pay extra to get a personalized plate...

What do you all think of it?

A picture would be nice.

Missouri just printed up a batch that says "Show Me State". It is incorrect without the hyphen that has been present in all prior plates.

I really like the fourth one.... I like how it has the cities on it and it's not to over the top. I really like all of them except the second and the third...

I agree, it looks so lame with the pastel colors that I chewed the lady at the tag office out for it.

I like the upper right one the best...no nonsense, no frilly ***** on it...decent, readable box-lettering in the center on the bottom.

A mans' type of plate.

Not that crap that would look all tree-huggy-PC-correct on the @55-end of a north-bound Prius.

I don't see what the fuss is about these new plates. It's just a plate. If you don't like it, stop whining, pay up and get yourself one of those other types of plates like a Classic Auto plate. I mean really Texas, whining over a license plate? I don't know whats more gay, the plate design, or big grown Texas men spazzing out over a friggin' plate.

Fourth one is best, but I really don't care too much. It's a license plate.

Great Horny Toads!

But we take our plates seriously here in Texas! "Cover up the word 'Texas'? Go to jail!"

http://www.thenewspaper.com/news/16/1606.asp

They changed to law in 2007 to be a bit less ambiguous, but you can still be stopped and cited if the trim ring covers the words on the edges of the plate. It's at the discretion of the individual trooper but it does happen. My neighbor, a latino, was driving his Cadillac SUV back from Del Rio and was stopped because the dealer installed plastic ring partially covered "Texas". He just got a warning.

But if you don't like it - you can always order a custom plate, if you're willing to pay...

I don't care if the new plates are pink with purple letters. The PO of my MR2 was from Austin and put longhorn stickers in the middle of both plates. Dynamite can't get them off. I did manage to cut the horns off the rear plate, but the longhorn on the front plate is there forever. The last two years, I asked for new plates, but was told I had to keep the old ones. Anything is better than having longhorns on your license plate.
