shop wont toucnh my mower, they dont service Dixons. So looks like I will try again with the leakdown tester. I pulled the belt off the mower deck and everything turns freely. the hydrostatic drive motivates the mower fine and isnt dragging it down no matter how hard I turn or stop, I am figuring the leakdown test was not right

can you get it to run on one cylinder? if so, you could compression test one side at a time. even if you had to spray carb cleaner down the intake. i have a hard time believing you need a rebuild.

well, here is a perfect case for ignoring the obvious. the good news is shes running like a champ. turns out in my "cheapness" I blew out the air filter with an air gun from the inside. appearently this is not good. I am guessing it collapsed the paper. this all came to light when I was trying to spray gasolene into the carb with it under load, which was the first time I ran it with no filter in place. I could immediately hear that the engine sounded much better. I went to Advance and bought a filter that is close and it cut 14" tall grass at full speed. I will get a proper filter tomorrow. and so a happy ending.....
