impact wrench
I'm thinking of buying an electric impact wrench, cordless or with a cord; any suggestions.

Bought the HF cord 1/2" impact on sale a few months ago for $20 or $30. Happy so far.

Where we live the impact wrenches usually have to work much harder in the rust belt. So we buy very high torque units. In your area is a different story I imagine. A normal lighter duty unit should be fine.

I look at the 1/2" electric as a lightweight tool for nuisance work. Serious work, and the 3/4" or 1" air impacts come out.

And near the other end of the spectrum, I bought this Milwaukee Tools 28 volt cordless 1/2" a few months ago for about $400. I think it maxes out at 325 ft.lb. of torque, which should handle a fair number of tasks.

I will need it for ball joints, steering rack and if I can use it for wheels would be nice, light weight 1/2 sufficient?

If you don't need the portability of a cordless, a corded electric impact wrench is the best value.

What's the difference between a electric wrench and an impact wrench?

The last few lines sum it up. EDIT: I just realized the context of your question. I meant corded electric impact wrench a few posts ago. Last edited by PaulC; 09-03-2009 at 11:42 PM. |

Electric wrench probably refers to an electrically powered torque wrench.
