Airguns
Pellet, not airsoft. I like them, and am always looking for new available hardware. I see this:
http://www.crosman.com/airguns/benjamin/BP2263 I would order it, $500 plus a $200 pump, if only it had iron sights. This one does: http://www.crosman.com/airguns/benjamin/BP9M22GP but the speed isn't quite there (almost is) and it's far less than half the price. Somehow, the first seems like it might be of significantly higher quality. But I hate scopes. |

Matt, what would the main purpose be for it ,target or field use? What about a Beeman R1? Lewis and Clark carried an air rifle you know? A big bore repeater. Napoleon outlawed the air rifle. Austrian snipers were using them against him.

+1 Beeman. I have an older one that I enjoy.

we had the Crossman brand competition air rifles in high school for JROTC rifle team.. I liked them very well... I was on Varsity so I had the one with the built in air tank, no need to get out of position, give it a pump, get back into position.

Any projectile launcher that I own will be used for killing paper at the range, including a decent air rifle.
Does Beeman make compressed-air guns? That is, something that you charge with an external pump or compressor. That's what I want. But as I said, sights are a must. Choice of sight types is of course a plus. |

The one I have is a spring piston type. Breaking over to load compresses the spring.
It was a kit .177 cal gun that I bought about thirty yrs ago and is still very accurate although, hell on scopes due to the double recoil. I found a Simmons scope I am pleased with. The .177s are cheap fun, the .22 cal is loud, more expensive to shoot. |

Have you checked out Cabelas? They have an air rifle set up like a mini-14. They also have ton of 'tactical' and 'non-tactical' guns in stock. I can check prices and get back to you when I pass by it next Friday.

The closest Cabale's is about 50 miles from here. Closer to work though, so I might check them out.
I'm mostly interested in pre-charged air for the power and lack of recoil, and .22 is preferred to .177. A .22 is much easier to load with my fat fingers. |

http://www.network54.com/Forum/79574/ Matt poke around on here and here http://www.airguns.net/classifieds/classifieds.php. If you consider a spring rifle I guess the R9 Beeman is a great gun.

Have you considered a GAMO? I've had a 440 for some years now that has always worked perfectly and has a damn site more punch then our old crossman. Looks good too

I have considered GAMO, and if I wanted a spring-air gun, that's likely what I would get.

My friend has one for controlling vermin in his yard, it works pretty well.
Not my cup of tea though, I only like things that go bang when I pull the trigger.

Doh! I thought those glbarnes looked pretty slick, until I noticed the lack of iron sights. That won't do.
