Dream Cars

I like my Benzes, and I liked the cars that preceded them* but sometimes I wish I had certain other cars. Lately, I've been doing some long highway runs from Carson City to San Diego and back, and I've been wishing I had something that would run triple digits through the deserts while cornering hard in the mountains. It's made a 450 SEL 6.9, a 560 SEL, or at least a 4.6 powered Crown Vic (or related Panther) almost a dream car of mine. I'm still lusting after a '69 Hemi Road Runner 4 spd (green). What are some of the cars you don't own but wish you did?

*(In order of ownership) '73 Chrysler Newport, '72 Mercury Montego, '63 Dodge Dart, '86 Lincoln Town Car, '88 Suzuki Samurai.

JordaanDMC-12 09-06-2009 09:47 AM

My dream car... a 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 5spd with the black DMC side stripe and black interior. And a 1971 all stock 'Cuda.

There are a bunch of others but not as much as these.

Whiskeydan 09-06-2009 09:49 AM

A car that gets me from point A to B with no worries... and maybe a working AC/heat.

ha.. if this was the delorean forum you would have to be waaay more specific.

Mine would have to be

a 1981 Delorean DMC-12 in the low 1000's VINs, dark grey wheels, 5-speed, gas flap hood, black interior.

or a black on black Countach.

powerpig 09-06-2009 10:16 AM

You can only keep track of so many at one time.

lol seriously. Mine then would have translated to:

A 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 also in the low 1000's vin, new rims from DMCH, 5 speed, gas flap hood, side black DMC stripe and the stage two engine upgrade from DMC of California.

Also, when I visited DMC of California last year I sat in one of their customers cars who is tall like me, they cut the drivers seat foam in half so you sink in more. I sat in it and it was literally perfect, 100% visibility out of the windshield and I fit perfectly. I almost wanted to drive through the gate and steal it. I was in heaven over there and they even had a perfect working replica of the time machine which was awesome. Even an engine which they were in process of gold plating  AND a DeLorean with 500,000 miles on the clock :))) AND the guy who works there Don Steger worked as a certified mechanic at the DMC dealerships back when!

That DeLorean I sat in too, the guy was 19 and it was his dailey driver, he worked at Disneyland and his parents bought him the car as a gift... ugh lucky guy

toomany MBZ 09-06-2009 01:49 PM

A Ford RS 200 http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/ec/Ford_RS200_001.JPGor maybe a Lancia 037 http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/ec/Ford_RS200_001.JPG

Hint: Its amazing, and they love it on Top Gear.

lutzTD 09-06-2009 08:58 PM

GT40 new or old or a 427 cobra, kit OK. If I had too, I would settle for a Pantera

vipercrazy 09-06-2009 11:01 PM

chrysler 300h with a 413 wedge
exige cup
mk4 supra with about 100k in mods
vintage mini with a ninja zx-14 engine in the back
and one that pretty obvious

I'm going to guess that thats a Pagani Zonda.

I wasn't really sure what my dream car would be until yesterday when I saw Bruces W126 6.0 AMG......

Hmmm I'll check it out, was your project car running? How is the power with a stock engine? I've only test driven a DeLorean in a 15mph zone and around the block. I didn't get to open it up.

Mercedes gullwing or 300sl from same era or 289 Cobra.

Thats at the top of the list, and there are many many more.

I always wanted a teal or black 1993 cobra. They sound so good.

iwrock 09-08-2009 11:39 PM

Thats a tough one.

I am going to say Porsche 930 Turbo.

TylerH860 09-09-2009 12:02 AM

I'm slowly plowing my way through dream cars, I just wish I had the money to keep them.

The 6.9 was a milestone for me, along with the Grand Wagoneer. If my wagon had gone through AMG it would be another one knocked out, but its close enough. Something Italian would be nice, along with experiencing other generations of SL.
