Mercedes roadside service
I can give it 4 Stars.
I had the misfortune to be in Norfolk VA during the recent unpleasant rainstorm. I blew a tire in an invisible chuckhole on the way to my conference at 0630. Opening the trunk, I found a good spare and my jack but no lug wrench. I had just rotated my wheels but have never used the stuff in the trunk to do it. Being a stranger stranded on the highway in the storm of the century with no phone book, I had no idea who to call. I then remembered the sticker inside the glove compartment. It has been in there for 21 years but it was worth a try. To make it short, they were there in 20 minutes, changed my wheel and would not accept a dime, not even as a tip. Benz Rules! Totally worth the price of admission. Although it is irrelevant, the car is my 1988 560SL. |

Rocky- glad it went well for you. They were not so accomodating to me when mine died in July because I was not under warranty and needed to have the car towed to a dealer.....BUT AAA rules in my book.

Towing is not part of the free Roadside Assistance program and I don't think it ever was. While under warranty it is and if you're a certain distance from home, under warranty, there's a traveler's plan that may also cover travel incidentals. In addition to AAA, quite a few auto insurance policies have a provision for towing charges.

yes, and it pays to keep a lug wrench, check the mercedes jack from time to time to make sure it is in good working order, flares and traffic warning triangles, coupla quarts of oil along with a basic tool kit in the trunk at all times. at least I do......

And I also recall MB having a nice set of metal fold-up wheel chocks. A welcomed addition to any boot.

Roger the Lug Wrench
There is one in there now.
Hmmmm; It went so well and it was raining so hard, maybe I'll throw away the wrench and jack. Seriously, I felt really guilty, to the extent that I had the car jacked and the spare out by the time they got there. The rest of the story is that in a few minutes with a phone book and my cell, I located a matching tire. The tire shop dropped everything to help out a poor traveller and I had a new tire mounted, balanced and on the car within an hour. Customer service is still alive and well in Norfolk Virginia. Mistress; try some charm next time. I know you have it in you. |

I had the same experience with them years ago, they replaced my battery COST. No labor / installation charge, although it took them an hour to get there.
Very nice, very professional. And one of my fellow Guards at the skate rink is a MB roadside tech here in Chicagoland. Off hand I forget which dealship. But if a tall guy named SteveO helps you here, give him my best. A real nice guy.

I had MB of Cincinnati bring me a new battery when my alternator died on a trip back from Florida....he was there in about 35 mins and was very helpful. That was about 2.5 years ago.
