Fear of flying?

Ok.. so... lets say I just happen to have this incredible fear or stepping foot on an aircraft and being hurtled through the atmosphere in a big metal craft.

what drug, if any, can I take to be completely knocked out for an 8 hour flight?

I have tried dramamine(sp) with it not working on me at all.

Face your fear and conquer it instead of surrendering to it. Don't be a pussy.

x2 just take a load of ny quil, put your head phones on and knock out. Ask if you can sit in the front of your seating so you have more leg room and won't wake up from being uncomfortable and look down at your watch and see you've only been asleep for 45 minutes out of your 8 hour flight.

Don't worry, you'll be fine! If things start getting crazy (turbulence, ect..) just take deep breaths.

lol... I'm staying at the Red Rock Resort in the massive suite(room is on the house), my friend invited me to go out there for the Delorean Car Show West so I was like... alright, I can swing it with class being moved around.

I think I will try the nyquil trick, that might work best.

I do not think it' a 8 hour flight. More like 5 or so. I know its about 2 1/2 from DFW to LAX and about 2-3 from DFW to the East coast. I don't have access to flight schedules anymore but unless you have a connection and are including ground time, I am pretty sure it's closer to 5 hours.

First I think you should tackle your fear, is it the crowded space of the fear of crashing? Personally I hate the crowds I immediately put my headphones on and watch back to back movies or read if that is tickling my fancy.

If your fear is crashing remember that if there is an in air problem you have the rest of your life to think about it.

If you must sleep, use Unisom its over the counter and usually does not have the hangover properties of Nyquil.

Fear of flying can be contributed basically to 2 reasons: Misunderstanding of what is really happening when airborn (and the media will lead you astray every time, as they don't know what they're talking about when it comes to aviation), and total lack of control over ones own life while airborn. Once these 2 issues are understood, they can be addressed.

Then there is the outsourcing of aircraft maintenance to Manila or Panama.
