New job hiring advice

Well I finally got out of the computer job that I hated, and I applied at a place called "IN-N-OUT Burger" I worked for this comapny before back in 2006 but quit because of my high school jazz band practices.

There are two in my area, and the one I used to work at is the closest to me, well I reapplied a few months back and my old manager told me that he had hired too many people and he had no room. But now I decided to apply at the one furthest from me, and old manager that I knew really well and was friends with "Cody" works at this one and happens to be a manager, we went to a bird convention together and she showed me the way in the world of birds lol

Well I haven't talked to her in a long time but I want to get in touch with her and see if she can pull some strings to get me hired. The problem is I don't want to be like "Oh hey, haven't talked to you in ages but I suddenly popped up because I want to know if you can help get me hired" I don't know what to do, but I really want and need this job. I just don't know how to approach her without me coming off as using her... I went by where her husband works to talk to him because he always told me I should come by and see their baby and stuff, but I never got around to it. ughhhhhh What do I do??

I know Brad who is the manager of All American Burger he'll help you out for sure.

You're joking right? I think pushing the pen on the application is enough.

Or I guess the grown up response should be that you should not hesitate to ask a manager if they have positions available.
