Any fly tiers out there?!

Just wondering if anyone here enjoys fly tying or fly fishing...

James

I did it many, many years ago when the fishing around here was better and there were few others fishing. Catching a nice trout on a self-tyed fly was very satisfying.

This topic comes up about once a year or so here.
We love both.
We started our oldest, now 12, when she was less than 2.
She ties all her own flies now, and quite a few of mine as well.
(When she’s not using the table to tie earrings for her and all her friends, that is.)
Our son, now 10, is starting to get into it a bit more.
He got a kick out of landing a gar after running off 50 feet or so of his backing our last trip out.
Here’s the pics I’ve posted in the past.

Thanks.

They are actually the same kid though.
One when she started fishing and a pic from a year or so ago. She's 12 now.

I get out a few time a year. Usually, when I go back to visit family in PA. I do have fly tying equipment, but haven't tied any in the past few years.

I live on the Delaware river and wet a line on a regular basis. Once or twice a year we head up to the Upper West Branch of the Delaware to a small fishing camp in Starlight, PA across from Hancock, NY.

I have not tied my own flies lately but I should to keep my skills sharp.

Smile This past weekend...

I fished the Blue River in Silverthorne CO this past weekend - I've been there a million times but haven't fished it much because the river has a reputation for being very 'technical' in that the fish have a PhD in fake-fly identification... Was lucky this time and caught some nice rainbows - some on my very own fly I tied the night before - it was very satisfying, I have to say...

I used to all the time, havn't been fly fishing in a couple years though. I miss it, its like skiing, one of those things that seems to get harder to do as you get older.
