Have I gone nuts?....

I want a Porsche 914 with a six cylinder... Is this a total money pit, or just a mid life "adjustment"? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Check the battery box area, notorious rust area.
A friend has one, hasn't run in over a decade, he won't sell it or the extra engine he has.

Yes, most definitely you are nuts. But that is part of the human condition; we're all nuts to one extent or another.

Enjoy the Porsche.

I would stay away from anything you have to drop the engine on to change the plugs... That said, if you really want it for it's uniqueness, go for it but realize what you're getting. If you just want a really powerful 914, I'm sure you can build a pretty potent 2L that would rival or exceed the power of the 6.

I had a 914 2.0 long time ago, a great car. I was thinking of getting one again but have not found one. 914-6 is a different animal. it is a race car. I wish I could get one. Go for it.
