Converted veggie Mercedes 300D--runs great! - $6500 (Silverlake)

1983 Mercedes 300D, originally manufactured in Germany, automatic transmission.

Converted to run on diesel, bio-diesel, SVO, WVO, everything except MAGIC (but I never tried...) 28 MPG, and diesel fuel is cheaper than gas right now. She chugs mightily up hills, on the freeway, a great car. 160,000 miles, low for these cars. Diesels usually go up to 400-500K, no joke.

A/C, newly installed, under warranty, runs COLD.
Manual windows and sunroof work great (electronic ones break down all the time...this avoids those repairs)
Gauges, meters all WORK
RADIO works, but isn't hooked up.

She's a beautiful green (literally) machine, green cloth interior, immaculate floor mats, trunk, original everything, except:

NEW Lovecraft conversion to run on vegetable oil, or biodiesel or diesel
NEW A/C
NEW Starter, Battery
NEW paint job! (original green color)

No smog necessary...Please send her to a good home...$6500 OBO

here in silverlake, we rejoiced when lovecraft closed last year? year before?
but the creations (?) therefrom, along with the hipster/eco/trendoid/greedhead mindset, lives on.

no shortage of ignorance in these parts!

please play along and choose the most idiotic element in this ad.

i nominate ? perhaps "originally manufactured in germany", uh, because you know we've all been burned by those mercedes manufactured originally (isn't the "originally a little redundant? ) in say, tokyo, singapore, toronto?

No joke, she's a real beauty (literally) and can easily go 400 or 500K, everybody knows that. Runs COLD, under warranty.

RADIO works, no wait, it's not, like, hooked up and stuff.

If it's an '83 and it has cloth seats, could it be a EURO diesel?

In '82 all the US spec 300D ones all had turbo's and automatics.

Could this be a Euro 4 speed or 5 speed, and a Non turbo? Those could be almost as quick (admittedly a relative term when discussing old Mercedes diesels!!) z US spec '83 turbo automatic diesel.

I think Silverlake is kinda weird anyway; one moment you are in Yuppie ville and then, a blink and you are in slums!!

My then gf and I went through there in July and she pointed out what she saw there: A restaurant proclaiming it offered: "Chinese Food and Donuts!!"

ackkkk!!!

Yep, the 300D and CD are the car of choice for the Silverlake hipsters. Lots of cuties here in 300D's and the occasional SD.

$6500 for a lovecrap converted car...LOL. They'll be sad when the junk yard only offers $300 for it when the motor is destroyed. Sigh.
