It's my anniversary

Well, it was up until about an hour and a half ago.

Three wonderful, glorious, exciting, exhausting, invigorating, wouldn't trade 'em for ANYTHING years with Darling Wife.

And I'm sitting at LAX, missing my Darling Wife horribly. Off to a week in Asia, then home for a week before heading out to another Asia trip (all Malaysia for that round).

Somehow, spending Saturday afternoon and evening stomping meeses to death at the Cottage for Ma and Ed (final score: my boots, 4, Skipper the psychotic jack russel belonging to Earl the seriously alcoholic former marine, 1) was not the lead in to said anniversary I was counting on. There was supposed to be a romantic dinner for two in there at some point Saturday...... but the out-laws inability to function in the real world got in the way.

So, whine, fuss, complain, and gripe. 14 hours in a tin can coming up. Good news is I'm flying Cathay Pacific, where the flight attendants are nice and the gin is free.

Congratulations on having a happy marriage. It is a prize worth working to keep and protecting.

Travel sounds exotic but if you do it for work it soon becomes work, doesn't it?

Hang in there!

Congrats on the darling wife!

I just spent my 4th with me in DC and her up in NY. I know what you are going through. Trust me it will be worth the wait when you get back home

Happy Anniversary, Jim!

I usually do pretty well traveling for the first day, right up until the kids' bedtimes start rolling around then I'm ready to get home.

I'm going to miss my daughter's birthday this Thursday thanks to business travel. I'm going to take her out to dinner on Saturday when I get back, though.

Have a safe trip! 14 hours in a cigar tub is a freaking long time!

Thanks for the kind words folks.

14 hours in the tin can turned into 17+ as one of the engines required "a little mechanical attention" prior to take off. Good news is I slept through the tarmac wait and the first 6 hours of actual flight time. Squeezed in a couple more naps, three movies, and a couple yummy meals.

T, after way the hell too many years suffering through a bad marriage, believe me - I am forever conscious of the immensity of luck that I stumbled into to have found such a wonderful partner. I am one truly fortunate guy.

Happy anniversary, Jim, and many more. Make sure you do all of your regularly scheduled maintenance, though. It's even more important in a marriage than it is in your cars . . .
