mercedes lovers!!! this is your chance to own a true classic. you will not find this 1972 mercedes 350 SL convertible in better condition, unless you want to pay 15,000 -20,000 for a running one (at the very least) when you can invent less than 1,000 into fixing this one. the reason i am selling it so cheap is because it has been idle and not running since 2004. the odometer reads around 350,000 miles. it has been garage kept since then, and garaged almost all of its life (as you can see from the condition of paint...all original) i've taken it to several mercedes mechanics and they all say all it needs to run again is the water valve. honestly, i know nothing about cars and do not have the time to look for this part. the tires still have a lot of life to them. my asking price is 3500.. i am willing to negotiate with the right person who is a serious mercedes collector and understands the value of this car. please call or text me if interested 1 818 274 9558. if possible, try to refrain from e-mailing me... i don't have much time to check my e-mail. thanks!

The way that's said in Nor Cal (Silicon Valley) is:

Believe nothing of what you hear; half of what you see; and Photoshop the rest !!!

For the lookie loo's, note that the California alphanumeric plates on this car (2Txx xxx) date NOT from 1972 ( the gold one over blue ones from from '72, on a guraanteed lifelong Cali Car) but are from 1989. And the reason for that should be checked out, as normally the plates in this state are supposed to stay on forever from the first issue date.

Reasons could be: Originallly an out of state car from a rustbelt place to 1989, original Calif. plates destoyed in a wreck or lost to theft, interim personalised plates, or other reasons, some innocuous, others not so much.

But it could be a fun project, and for sure the skinny bumpers and color co ordinated hubcaps over steelies, and lack of cats, make the '72 -'73 SL convertibles with hard and soft tops, in a desirable color, a decent car for the price.

And the neighborhood, Woodland Hills, where this car is located, is DEFINATELY a really classy one in Los Angeles, I know it well.

One reason the car is so cheap is that So Cal is, compared to anyplace else in the world, saturated with cars like this, which drives the prices down...

The miles on this one, are pretty high, it's true, ---- but then, -- a lot of people say the 3.5 is one of the very very best engines Mercedes Benz EVER built.

And chances are, it's been very well taken care of, for the last 20 years, because LA, being the car culture capital of the world, has mostly WELL LOVED sports cars, and the service and maintenance facilities that to cater to their fussy owners...

I really like that color combo, and specifically the woodless white interior. It could well be a fun project for someone with the spare cash and time.

There is no such thing as a cheap Mercedes Benz.

Largely true. Hence "spare cash and time".
