Thumbs down 'Incompetent' woman caused two fatal crashes at same spot

http://www.news.com.au/story/0,27574,26266666-29277,00.html

A FEMALE driver who killed two motorists at the same intersection seven years apart has been criticised as incompetent by a coroner.

Mother of two Michelle Thiele caused the two fatal crashes by failing to look to her left when entering the intersection, South Australia's deputy coroner has found.

Thiele told deputy coroner Anthony Schapel she believed she was a competent driver despite causing the fatal crashes at a T-junction at Pompoota near Mannum, about 80km east of Adelaide.

"Both men died in collisions at the same location in almost identical circumstances and at the hands of the same motorist," Mr Schapel said in his coronial findings delivered today.

I feel bad for the victims, this is murder in 2nd degree.

Nothing to do with women drivers, its about incompetence and its across both the genders. The point here being that its a criminal act of incompetence.

I noticed that too, however, it's capitalized in the original article...

It's really a shame about some drivers

I just copy pasted the news article, the capitalization is on their part.

Some people shouldn't drive. There's been some discussion on here about the quality (or lack thereof) of driver training and qualification in the United States. I'd like to hear from someone who's been there how Australia's licensing system is.

Nothing I see people in cars do surprises me anymore. Last night I was on my way home from Tyson's Corner, VA (in the pouring rain, no less), and there was a car ahead of me that had raced past me at a stop light on Rt 7, almost hit another car he/she was trying to pass going onto the ramp to the Beltway ("Eight Lane Deathstrip"), and then swerzed back and forth as they accelerated down the ramp, ran over the median between the ramp lane and the far right hand lane of the Beltway, and then zoomed off into the mist. I noticed some parts fly out from under this car when it hit the median, but could not identify them.
I see crap like this nearly everyday on my commute to work and back. The only surprise to me is that there are not a lot more fatalities around here than there are. There do seem to be just about as many male as female offenders in my experience. however, there do seem to be a disproportionate number of MINIVANS in this orgy of recklessness.

I drive a tank (126), try to travel when traffic is lightest, and use to the cruise control to temper the desire to just blow past the morons.
How would you like to be the insurance underwriter that bound the policy for a driver that had already KILLED someone in an at fault accident? His boss may make the payout for this one come out of the guys pocket...or his hide.

Killed two drivers in exactly the same way? I dunno, sounds pretty competent to me. Now ANYBODY can crash a car in different ways but to be able to repeat the performance 7 years later...
