Wow, nice car. I guess Ingrid is out then? I'd part with her for half that.

I like that car, but I think there are better deals than $12k out there. I ran across one that has 119k I think and it was $4500. I would have snapped it up, but I didnt have a spare 5k to blow.

I seriously doubt it would have been a turn key car for that money. More likely you would have needed 7k to blow.

Ugh why do I keep thinking 1990 wasn't that long ago?

IT WAS NEARLY 19 YEARS AGO!

I call BS. Will you pay for the plane ticket if I fly out tomorrow and find at least 2k+ in mechanical things wrong with it? It is true that GEN I W126s go for much cheaper than Gen IIs.

I've found plenty of good deals in my part of the country.

Finding a deal in MI makes you extremely skilled. I've pulled it off a couple times so far....it takes months of looking, to find a single decent car at an acceptable price.

All of 5 minutes of searching through here and Benzworld I found your car is suffering from hesitation on acceleration, a leaky, rusty rear window seal area, and interior issues. Looks like a very nice car though. Just don't pretend like you bought a turn key car for practically nothing.

You lose.

You are utterly wrong on this one. I am utterly familiar with the story and circumstances surrounding the acquisition of this car.

It really did come free, to him, all he had to do was just pay the mechanic the last $500 or so owed on some mechanical repairs and general tuning up.

It's an '85 500SEL sold new at European Motors in San Francisco in 1985, lifetime Nor Cal car. About 170k I think, but a solid runner, manila beige with palomino seats. Correct, very original, never collided, one owner to this year. Original bundts on it.

Here it is just after he got it, when it was the camera car in the recent "AMG W126 criminal street racers" had their gtg and races in West Sacramento on the freeway a couple of months ago....documented wth pics on benzworld

Justin will tell the whole unusual story, if he wants to, on here.

Original California "rising Sun" plates; correct for the year "2Bxx xxx alphanumeric series.

Fantastic. Then he is one of the exceptions to the rule of a cheap Mercedes. Agreed? I know the market is flooded out there with them, but very seldom does one find a sub 1k turn key Mercedes.
