spin on August 31, 2009. On that forum, a user by the name of “oldweevil”
gave birth to the Beck Meme at precisely 08:32:26 PM by posting the
following comment:

Here is my theory on it. Beck and Rush, etc, etc, are dependent on 2 groups of idiots to prop them up. To be fair, they are doing an excellent job of it. First group is the extreme right. After all, many conservatives who are not on the fringes probably won't listen to them. Then we have the other bigger nutballs on the left. They are the ones that listen to him to find something to get pissed off on AND they also start finding things about both of them to discredit those talking heads. By doing so, they are giving the extreme right something to find credible about these talking heads. Kinda of like the girl whose parents find her BF a total tool. It makes him more attractive in the eyes of the girl. It also makes her wonder if her BF has more to him than meets the parents eye. Further, it could be a point of rebellion to piss off the parents.

What does this mean? Well, if the nutballs on the left ignored idiots like Rush like I ignore the ramblings of a madman, it does 2 things. First, it takes away part of his audience. Second it doesn't make him seem like the "taboo" the extreme right should be listening to to piss off the left.

This is what those talking heads do. They purposely say something with some truth in it to piss off the idiots on the left who listen to them and the extreme right likes it. So, they listen to him too. This makes him the ringmaster in a 3 ring circus. As such, while the 2 idiotic groups squabble, it makes him more popular and he laughs all the way to the bank. So while Rush and Beck & Co claim they are against the left and the left hate them, they are the ones that are largely responsible for their success. IF the nutballs on the left could tune him out and just ignore him, his audience will be simply those who want to hear themselves talk.
