quick photo resizing question

asking here because the photoforum tends to take longer.

But I've got some pictures a friend wants printed of mine. All shot in RAW at 12.5 megapixel. I think she wants like 5x7's and 8x10's. Also I think she is just going to take the files to like a cvs type place

I am just asking what should the photos resized to.. pixel dimension wise?

If you use the Photo Manager tool that comes with MS Office 2003 there is a compression utility built in, one of the options is to "compress for Web pages", produces a nice sized photo in only a few clicks.

It all depends on the DPI output of the printer. Most of them have a output resolution of 300 DPI. You don't need a ginormus file size to print a decent 8X10 at 300 DPI.

of course, I convert to tiff and process in pshop and then save a psd and a tiff.

im looking at mpix.com for prints and they have stuff on sizing

Don’t resize the images at all. Simply ask that they be printed to the sizes requested.

Also, always make and work with copies of images. Leave the originals somewhere safe.
