How do you get seriously injured hitting a tree in your own driveway? Maybe the stupid air bag deployed.

I wish him well, he is a good guy.

But he should quit driving Escalades, and pimping Buicks. This probably wouldn't have happened if he was driving a Mercedes Benz S class.

No air bag deployment. The "experts" on TV said that meant he was traveling under 33 mph.

33mph?! What car uses that as the minimum air bag speed? I always thought they were around 10 mph.
Or, he could have been traveling in reverse---no air bags deployment then, either.

I don't know the minimum speed, but they do scare me. When the initial report said he was seriously injured, I guessed that the air bag had deployed.

Saw that on the news earlier. I have a hard time believing that a guy can get in a wreck practically in his own driveway, at 2 in the morning, and alcohol not be involved.

it could have been as simple as a long day followed by a late night trip to the store to pick up some snacks. and, he may be like a lot of people who have poor night vision. I'd rather go in the daytime with sunshine where I can SEE that fire hydrant, tree, etc.

Sounds shady all around.....most people (especially people of his "wealth level") aren't heading out for snacks at 2:30am......and crashing your SUV with headlights on it that can light up a stadium.....that hydrant just jumped right in front of him.

I agree, he got hurt because he was in a POS Escalade....maybe he'll learn and drive a MB next time.

He's a likable guy and I wish him well of course but one does wonder what sort of storm this could bring to him being he has all these mega$ endorsement deals. Scrutiny will be intense and the holiday connection could come into play.

When I drove hack, you saw some of the sweetest and some of the craziest behavior on holidays - all of 'em, the big ones anyway, the ones that open the door for family encounters.

The first article the Chron had said he'd been seriously hurt, not true apparently.

A very nice guy, an inspiration for young athletes. I wish him well also.

I'm not sure if true, according to this article, the accident might not be the cause of his injuries.
