Apparently tolerant Switzerland shocks itself by overwhelmingly passing a ban on minarets; it seems they don't swing that way. It seems like a lot of Europe hasn't warmed up to Islam..... I Wonder why?

Seems more symbolic than anything else. There are only 4 mosques in the whole country. Uncharacteristic for the country we've always viewed as supremely "neutral" and tolerant. I'm sure the American Taliban will be all over this one with high praise.

What makes you think they've ever been "tolerant" Like most ethnically homogenous countries their "tolerance" consists principally of lecturing others on how they should live.

Knee-jerk reaction to what's going on in the world. Look at some of the crap Tom Ashcroft was able to scare Congress into putting into the Patriot Act immediately after 9/11 - knee-jerking at it's finest (worst?).

Knee-jerk as in, it's a feel-good measure for the voters and isn't going to do diddly addressing the real issues.

Sadly I see Europe as having a serious problem. their birth rate is very low, and the only people who are having kids are the Islamic immigrants. Remindes me of the king in Braveheart talking about breading out the Scotts. Why fight with Europe when they are going to have Islamic majorities sooner or later.

I think people in Europe are getting a since that this is happening, but instead of being proactive, and making babys they are out lawing things like Minarets and Berkas.
