Is this why I can't send mail using my phone?

I've tried a bunch of smtp servers and can't seem to send mail. Is this the problem or am I stupid? OK don't answer the last question, but, seriously? Am I doing something wrong?

The VZW SMTP server was down for a day

I was a VZW customer till December 1st and I was sending e-mails from my Treo nearly daily via VZW.

Are you using the supplied email client?

Another forum I frequent www.howardforums.com and they didn't mention any outages.

What type of phone are you using and what is your web server set up as? I deal with RIM's tomfoolery all of the time with the BIS problems.

Edit: MTI, verizon shut down their SMTP server back in August.

Try doing a soft reset (Stylus in the pinhole in the rear ). Resetting daily is something I would always do for my Treo 650. That may solve your problem.

Also if you're interested I was a Palm user goon back in the day www.treocentral.com has a lot of useful information for you to browse and look up. Custom ROM edits were my favorite.
