HAPPY NEW YEAR'S EVE! -- be careful out there!

I just want to wish everyone a very happy NYE!

Just be careful out there... It is snowing in the NE (what a wonder in these days of global warming) and the roads are crappy.

Also remember no drinking and driving Of course WE would never do that right?

Be safe, be happy and have fun next year!

Joe

The same to you, Joe, and the rest of our friends here!

Every year we get together with some friends and their two daughters (same age as our middle two kids) for New Year's Eve, alternating yearly back and forth between their house and ours. They're both tremendous cooks and we usually pick a different theme for the menu and try to stick with it from the appetizers to the meal to the booze but the common thread is the other husband and I kicking the wives' collective @$$e$ in Trivial Pursuit usually with some last minute rallying (I know, sounds exciting as hell but it keeps us off the roads with the other drunk nuts and we really have a good time).

Well this year, it's our turn to host and after throwing a few different ideas around I said, why not a White Trash New Years? I figured it would be perfect since we're hosting this year. Our friends, who are from Iowa, have really run with the idea.

On the menu we've got:

Apps
Canned squirt cheese and crackers
Pickles with cream cheese
Li'l Smokies in BBQ sauce
Pigs in a Blanket
Frito Pie
Velveeta Dip

Dinner
Maid Rite sammiches
Biscuits and Gravy
TaterTot casserole

Desert
Frozen Ring Ding and ice cream cake

Beverages
The only thing that won't be too far from the everyday is the beverage selection, some Pabst Blue Ribbons and Buds, but I will throw some Schlitz and Milwaukee's Best in the cooler. Not being a mixed drink guy, got any ideas for a good white trash alcohol punch or mixed drink? If nothing else I'm thinking Mountain Dew and cheap vodka.

While the theme usually sticks to the menu only, I might just go buy me a ***** Beater t-shirt and see if I can get a few cinder blocks to throw an old door on for a table.

The rest of the decor is already in place.

Awesome!

I love the menu and the these idea...

For redneck drinks try Jagerbombs... all the folk in WV seem to love them! Take a shot of Jaegermeister and fill plastic cup with - get this - Red Bull! Personally I cannot stand the stuff.. but it IS a mixed drink.
Oh, also go with Soco and 7up!

One thing about us rednecks - we don't buy cheap booze! We are serious about our drinkin' !

I am heading up to NY to meet the wifey and our friend Sue. We will do dinner at a redneck bar called "Live Bait" - yes there are rednecks even in NYC! then head to the Lakeside Lounge for a show by my friend Tammy and her Rolling Strones cover band - The Mike Hunt Band... She gets on stage and shouts "Has anybody heard Mikehunt yet?" Always goes over big with the crowd...

I'm a 99% beer guy but I'll throw some of those drinks into the rotation.

BTW-unless they're transplanted southerners, Northeastern hicks are swamp yankees! At least once I get done with my reclamation project!

Trust me, there were some heated discussions about Weenie Beanie casserole and some Spam dishes. But with just the four of us being the main consumers (the kids will pick at it) we had to make some tough decisions! No fruit-emblazoned Jello molds either.

I saw the perfect t-shirt for your party last year, it said "Mess WIth Me, You Mess With The Whole Trailer Park." The guy wearing it was at a five star resort.

We used to mix "grain (alcohol) and grape (juice)", the real stuff, for us high class rednecks!

For a redneck party you need moonshine, a pickup truck, an old coon dog, and some guns.

I'm heading over to my friends house for some loud partying and drinking. I have some good rum and tequila just waiting to be cracked.
