My Year to Forget

Happy New-year to all in this forum. Here is a recap of my year to forget: 2009

Wife had an affair, we're getting a divorce next week. At 41 she thinks she's gay. We've been married 15 years (together about 20), and she's in love with a woman she's known for 8 months. Got the dreaded late-night phone call on 10/23/09.

Was within $8,000 of owning my house (a life-long dream), had to remortgage to give her half. So now I have a $260,000 note to pay off.

Lost 1/2 my retirement money.

And to top it all off, my Christmas tree fell over last night, breaking some beautiful old family ornaments.

BUT, and I swear this is true, I really am not mad, sad, angry...you fill in the blank. I have great family, good kids, and my health. So to all the great members of this forum, I wish you an early Happy New-year - be healthy, safe, and prosperous!
Tee-man

PS: I also forget, I have to edit my signature...She got the Benz too. How could I forget to mention that fact here on this forum?

Sorry man, that all pretty much sucks.

Have you considered writing a country song? ;)

SwampYankee 12-31-2009 09:11 AM

Damn, man. I'm don't know what to say. :(

That sucks. Keep your chin up. I've got no personal experience with it but I do have several friends who have gone through similar situations (one sounds almost to a "T" including the gay part) and while it takes awhile it sure seems to get better.

I hope your '10 is a lot better than your '09!

Ouch that really does suck but i am hearing of a lot of people waiting till late in life to come out of the closet. i don't understand it myself since i've know about myself since grade school.

Happy New Year to everyone, I think we all deserve better than what we got in the past year.

Dee8go 12-31-2009 09:27 AM

Sorry to hear about all of that. I'll be glad to see this year gone, too. It's been somewhat of a "country-western-song" year for me, too.

Here's to a way better 2020 for ALL of us!

Sorry to hear man.

That sucks man.

I know a guy who has been divorced three times. Now he just wants 20-30 year old girlfriends.

Antony 12-31-2009 10:08 AM

Thanks for the well wishes. I'm feeling pretty good about my mental health, so to all, again, happy new year. As it relates to a country song, one of my workmates told me the title to my memoirs should be "2009, the year my Christmas tree fell over" I really like that, now I just have to write the story; maybe I should ;)

Craig 12-31-2009 10:12 AM

Now you just have to decide who should play your character in the movie.

What the hell took him so long?:) My uncle got married and divorced while he was flying for the Navy back in the 70's. That was enough for him. He's dated late-20's then early-30's then late-30's, as the years passed ever since. When their biological clocks went off, they'd move on and he'd be happy to find the next one. Now that he's in his early 60's he found a nice divorcee in her early-50's to put up with his crap. :D

Sorry to hear about your troubles.
Been there, done that, got the t'shirt!
It does get better. Do what's best for the kids.

Hope the new year has great things in store for you!!

I know a guy who married ...and divorced...the same woman TWICE. (Dude, what were you thinking:rolleyes:) No woman's that good. :D

Anthony, believe me when I tell you the world is FULL of 40 something divorced women.:cool:(Ask me how I know;);)) I was married for 17 yrs. Just hope you don't get caught up on the "other thing." I knew a guy the same thing happened to. After a much longer marriage than yours. Stuff happens. Move on. This ain't a dress rehearsal.

That is my plan. I think that you hit the nail on the head with this not being a dress rehearsal. I hope to do some positive thinking, and become a better person for having lived through this. The catastrophe has already happened, with that behind me, I need to pick up what is left, repair that which can be repaired, and move on.
Thanks to all who have given this thread a look. Happy New-year!
