BTW, is sheriff Joe (spelled Arpaio, I believe) still being chased by the DOJ?

That clown actually tried (personally) to give me a ticket a few years ago. I was consulting at a nuclear power plant in AZ with a group of federal regulators, and it happened to be the first day of a maintenance outage. As a result, there were several hundred out-of-state contract employees arriving (mostly maintenance techs). Our friend Joe set up a road block and gave them each a ticket for working in AZ without changing their auto license/registration (he does this every year). It's just a small time scam, these guys will usually pay the ticket instead of giving up a day's pay to go to court. Anyway, he tried to give me a ticket and they guy I was with flashed his federal ID and basically told Joe to F-off. Hopefully the feds will put this guy away eventually.

Clown? no, a stern upholder of the law. The feds have been after him since he is not PC and doesnt fit into the Fed agenda regarding illegals. I especially like how he houses and dresses and feeds his prisoners...Sheriff Joe rocks and has immense popular support.......

Hopefully, we'll get to see how popular he is in the big house.

Sorry guys, but that's not how we roll.
How about being like say other countries that have rules about legal immigration?

They know how stupid we are which is why they take advantage of it. As they say "A sucker is born every day". I have yet to see any part of the world besides here where people are proud of their stupidity and the fact that they are being made suckers of every day, every hour.....

I was just making fun of the unintentional irony in the original post.

We all know the story with illegal immigration, no-one in power (either party) really wants to do anything about it, so it's not going to change. I don't think it's a big issue, but I guess some people do.

One party is paid off by the businesses that profit from it, the other is paid off by votes, why should they do anything?

Well, if it doesn't tax the infrastructure or cost money, you might say it isn't a big deal financially. OTOH, what does it say about stupidity and the law? It says you are too stupid to do anything about someone barging into your house. It also says that the law is conveniently overlooked for a few bucks in the elected's coffers. But I suppose, it isn't a big thing if you omit those things. And if you omit the damage from 911, it isn't that big a deal. Building was old anyways.

Which state would that be? Every state now is a border state because we were stupid.

Can't get a SS card!

What kind of a cave do you live in Jolly Roger. They can get them, except that usually it is easier to make them, you dummy, how do you think they find them working in packing plants all using the same number. Ya, that makes a sight so big and bad the sooch people can't ignore it. Sure they have SS cards, they make em. Way easier then counterfeiting money.

As I said before, the nickle and dime approach is working. Ask for a big chunk up front and people balk. Enough people like you that get nickled and dimed to death BUT don't know it and they have succeed. I think they took a page from the Romans with the bread and circuses. Keep the citizens distracted and don't let them focus on anything and you can go on your merry way.

It has nothing to do with 9/11.

I can't comment on the stupidity of this or any other laws, just the reality of the situation. Personally, it's about number 435,856 on my list of stuff worth worrying about.

You misunderstand, I simply don't care about this issue; it's not important to me.
