Six textbooks for $232. Not too bad.

Where do you buy your books?

I've tried nearly every website but I have the best results at abebooks.com

Note: i'm not affiliated with them in anyway :)

i bought 2 from biblio and some from half. I buy from the sites with the best sellers and prices. Half isnt bad but biblio is pretty good. Dont like amazon

lucky..

I spent about $600 on text books because all but 1 were new editions.

The one that I was able to get used was a whopping $160.

When are textbooks finally going to be available on a kindle or something similar? I would have expected that by now.

dynalow 01-16-2010 07:16 AM

The textbook thievery is merely an extension of the college tuition ripoff. Unconscionable. What percentage of textbooks go on middle class mom and dad's credit cards at 18-20% interest rates? Plenty do...and take a long time to get "purchased"

They make more money selling them to us hardcover and changing the editions every year.

Its a scam.

I agree... some of the things they change are trivial at best (or slyly left in )

I don't want to think about how much I've spent on books throughout college and grad school. Probably about $400 a semester  I'm holding onto all the useful ones (engineering)...there's no way the bookstore would pry these from my hands given that they'll buy them from you for. It's all about money

Hatterasguy 01-16-2010 10:25 AM

The problem with the updates I have found they change a lot of questions at the end of the chapters. So unless you know someone you can't do your homework with them.

Some classes I got away with it like my Int business classes where the exact questions were not so important. But for my finance classes I had to go buy the new edition.

In the engineering / math books, they often just rearrange all the question numbers (and actually change a very small number of questions)...

Could you guys give me some ISBN numbers for these engineering books? I go to a wheeny liberal arts college so there aren't a lot of hard science classes.

I want to see how much money I can save using my not so super secret website.

One book the discount was $40, while another book was $125 so the savings is really over the map.

# ISBN-10: 0195084942
# ISBN-13: 978-0195084948

The "used" sticker is covering the ISBN on the book, I had to get these from amazon...

Analysis of Transport Phenomena, William M. Deen

Civil Engineer eh?

How much was the book on amazon if you don't mind me asking?

Edit: It looks you missed out! Those engineering books have international editions. Here's one for $9 with $23.70 shipping. The cheapest out there
