http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/us-military-weapons-inscribed-secret-jesus-bible-codes/story?id=9575794&page=1 Coded references to New Testament Bible passages about Jesus Christ are inscribed on high-powered rifle sights provided to the United States military by a Michigan company, an ABC News investigation has found. http://a.abcnews.com/images/Blotter/..._100118_mn.jpg At the end of the serial number on Trijicon's ACOG gun sight, you can read "JN8:12", a reference to... http://a.abcnews.com/assets/images/i...arrow-down.gif At the end of the serial number on Trijicon's ACOG gun sight, you can read "JN8:12", a reference to the New Testament book of John, Chapter 8, Verse 12, which reads: "Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." The ACOG is widely used by the U.S. military. http://a.abcnews.com/assets/images/i...n-arrow-up.gif (ABC News) More Photos The sights are used by U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and in the training of Iraqi and Afghan soldiers. The maker of the sights, Trijicon, has a $660 million multi-year contract to provide up to 800,000 sights to the Marine Corps, and additional contracts to provide sights to the U.S. Army. U.S. military rules specifically prohibit the proselytizing of any religion in Iraq or Afghanistan and were drawn up in order to prevent criticism that the U.S. was embarked on a religious "Crusade" in its war against al Qaeda and Iraqi insurgents. http://www.threedonia.com/wp-content...ep-500x375.jpg |
I am confused, are you daming the US or the gun sight manufacturer?
|
I am not damming anything.

Too bad they didn't send them any mags.

The law seems pretty clear, so I don't see how the US comes in for any blame. The manufacturer should provide what the contract documents require, period.
The inspector who missed this deserves some share of the blame. |

Anyone have a link to the actual Federal Law that is allegedly being violated? Doesn’t look like it's listed as an Urgent Matter on the groups web site either. ”Weinstein, an attorney and former Air Force officer, said many members of his group who currently serve in the military have complained about the markings on the sights.” I wonder how many members of his group there are? Hey, any group that counts Joe Wilson as one of its foundation voices can’t be bad! Especially groups that feature a store where anyone can buy diamonds/rubies/sapphires and coin purses and hand crafted coin banks! http://www.militaryreligiousfreedom.org/index.html |

It seems silly, but harmless, to me.

(yawn)

However, I assume the military will fix this now that it's become public; it does make them look silly. If I was religious, I would probably be offended by the use of my book on a weapon. As it is, yawn.
