Thanks again, as usual your "analysis" doesn't disappoint!
The certification might be the same but the general rules, of which you were talking, have been changed. As a resident of Mass you should be more aware.
Here's an explanation of Mass certification laws for the clueless.

No one will be seating the apparent winner in the Senate for at least 10 days, probably longer. So something has changed between now and 1962.

Thank again for that "analysis", you never disappoint!

The law regarding certification in 1962 remains the law in 2010!

Ted Kennedy after winning the 1962 special election was certified and seated the following day.
Scott Brown after winning the special election in 2010 deserves not to be treated the same as Ted Kennedy and should not be certified and seated the same day.

Maybe you can explain how the law in 1962 was circumvented allowing Kennedy’s next day certification and how that does not set precedence for circumvention of those same laws with regard to Scott Brown’s next day certification today?

PS You better go back a reread my post, I spoke of the certification and seating of Kennedy and Brown; you where in fact the one who brought up the irrelevant general “rules” that had been changed. It does not surprise that you rely upon as proof and support for whatever position you're arguing with yourself about, a link which you label as “Mass certification laws for the clueless” tres apropos! If you ever find a link relevant to the disparity of certification between Ted Kennedy circa 1962 vs. Scott Brown circa 2010 everyone will be waiting! Thanks again!

I read your whiny post. You want Kerry to seat Brown today, just as Ted was seated the day after his election. That ain't gonna happen because Massachusetts law says so. Tough if you can't read explicit law or find the links to help you.

Mr. 41 will need to change his name to Mr.60 or 61 or.....Newly elected Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass.) will vote to advance Democrats' $15 billion jobs bill Monday evening, breaking with his party and giving Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) one of the two votes he needs to move the measure forward. http://voices.washingtonpost.com/44/2010/02/scott-brown-to-back-democrats.html?hpid=topnews Then come under fire from supporters... http://www.detnews.com/article/20100226/OPINION03/2260333/1008/OPINION01/Call-GOP-senator--Benedict-Brown-?

Good for him, sounds like he voted his conscience and not his party. We need more of that on both sides.

Question. Would he be as noble if he had voted AGAINST what you want? IOW, could he be said to vote his conscience even if it happened to be along party lines or is it only noble if he votes the way you like it to be?

My take: The guy said: Hey, the voters in my state are hurting and unemployed. This Senate 15 billion bill isn't much, but if it will help get some Mass. folks jobs, I'm in.
15 billion is chump change as these things go. Just add 1% to the 1.6 trillion deficit. There isn't really too much to go to the mat over in the contents of this bill. How effective it wil be is another matter. 1 year suspension of Soc. SEc. taxes for employers? We'll see. Oh yeah,, there's another extension of unemployment benefits iirc.

Yes it is noble to vote your conscience along party lines. But it is easy. By the way I did not want this piece meal bill to pass anyway.

Pro Choice , voted for a very progressive Healthcare Bill in MA. and now first major US Senate bill he votes with the Democrats , some of his supporters are not happy at all. Google "Benedict Brown" or read the link. http://www.detnews.com/article/20100226/OPINION03/2260333/1008/OPINION01/Call-GOP-senator--Benedict-Brown

A funny thing happened on the way to the Senate filibuster, the new GOP Messiah, Scott Brown actually voted his conscience and what he thought was best for his constituents and the American people. Nothing infuriates the far right more than one of their own having a mind of their own. Here’s a very partial selection of comments his “fans” left him on his Facebook page:
“LYING LOW LIFE SCUM HYPOCRITE!” and “What a bummer dude. We didn’t need another Olympia Snowe,” and “BROWN, YOU JUST REMEMBER YOU DOUCHEBAG…WE ARE WATCHING YOU!!!!!!!!!!!! AND YOU FAILED AT THE FIRST CHANCE…YOU SCUM SUCKING ARS!!! GUESS MY 10-15 HOUR WORK DAYS WILL HELP PAY FOR THIS TOTAL BULLSHYT!!!!!!!!”

Brown and his supporters in happier times for Cons

Weeeeee! And if that isn’t enough right-wing nut-job fun, I encourage you to visit this site http://cons-lie.com/2010/02/23/you-go-scott-brown/

If your brother and your mom are both out of work would you be in favor of the jobs bill or not?

I think it is great he voted his conscience and what he thought was best for his constituents and the American people. I believe many of his supporters believed he was the 41st "NO" voter on eveything Obama proposed and it didn't turn out like that for them , hence the unkind words and nick names.
