I was watching a public broadcast last night, irritated by our (expected) efforts to save the place, where the center of concern was all of the pregnant women in haiti.

I guess we were supposed to react with a guilty sense of responsibility as the women see witch doctors instead of midwives.


I am certainly not suggesting that one culture deserves higher level of care than another. I just don't understand our involvement, or why it needs to be there when the cultural gap and methodological discontinuity are ubiquitous.
