Finally (maybe): The MB-Citroen Teknikal Zenter

I found a building this morning which may fit the bill for me, assuming I can get the owner to sell it to me. That's been the biggest obstacle in the past: I couldn't get an answer to my inquiries and neither could my broker! When I contacted another broker, I thought I had woken him up! It's like these people like being this way!

But I digress.

This building is eight miles from home, in an industrial area but off a secondary road. Not abandoned but not well-traveled.

It has a large front door and normal door, a fenced-in grassed area next to the building, which is cinder block.

But get this: It's a TWO-STORY building!
I could set up a place to live on the weekend and wrench the whole time.
Imagine the storage potential for parts!

The bldg is roughly 4,000 square feet. Some windows on the first floor will have to be blocked or replaced with glass block.

Room to store and service 20 cars :D:D:D

I could even hold technical training there! Live video internet feed!

Or maybe turn the second floor into a club house area.

Am going scouting today and will bring back recon photos soon.

Just gotta find out about taxes, hazmat, other liens etc.

an out-of-state bank owns it.

Interesting...so are you looking to offer parts and service or just one of them? (And potentially a nice place to host meets )

Right now I have two garages and three trailers filled with MB parts, plus 7 MB engines+trans that I can think of right now. That does not include the 12 Citroen eng+trans or the 2000 sq ft of storage holding them, or the extra house a friend has which includes other items bought/given, plus 20 each CC-3 (total 20 cubic yards storage) containers filled with Citroen parts, plus the three rooms holding complete NOS leather interiors.

So I need space to sort, then sell.

5 MB diesels will go

4 Citroen 2CV s will go

2 X DS21 cars will go

1 x Maserati Khamsin will go

1 x Borgward Isabella TS Coupe will go

With that room, and some cash, I will be buying or (if I have already bought it, restoring) a 1938 Amilcar N7

I will keep the following:

1 x Citroen 4 dr conv DS21
1 x DS21 sedan
1 x 2CV
2 x 11CV Traction Avants- 1951 and 1953
1 x MB 1953 220 sedan (the Groucho car)
1 x MB 83 380SL
1 x MB LWB W123 (power plant TBD)

Plus I'll be making biodiesel by then. Possibly with a partner.

As I ease down the glide path to retirement, I'll only take occasional jobs or do favors depending on the individuals involved.

So I'll have time to do what Dennis Foley is doing on the East Coast for Citroens. He has a great website, after closing his shop and retiring to work part-time on hobby cars.

That's the plan and the first step is the building. I've decided to transfer my GI Bill educational benefits to my son, so he can use them for undergrad. I won't go to law school, big deal.

I juuuuust neeeeed the frikking building!!!! :D

Very interesting. Definitely keep us updated on this little project. I think my local parts store can get Citroen parts but I never actually asked them. (I know they can get parts for Peugeot)

Nice, you can turn the 2nd floor into a man cave! Full of car parts, beer, and car related stuff.:D
