Of course it's a trap.
If Obama wanted bipartisan participation he would have invited the Republicans to participate from the beginning.
He didn't do that, he locked them out just like Bush locked out the Dems. Now that they lost their majority, Brown's win in Massachussets, now all of a sudden they want the GOP in. That's BS.

That certainly stood out, he's obviously at a complete loss from a barging (idea) standpoint. Maybe he needs to get back to the orange sun lamp.

Obama is obviously at a complete loss from a governing standpoint. Maybe he needs to go back on the campaign trail.

To you, and others who are simply trying to cherry pick a word or phrase to ridicule the guy, most definitely.

Fact of the matter is, they don't trust the other side and want to know who will be there and the format. I don't want to go into any serious business negotiation with a group of unknowns. Do you? I want to know that the people I am meeting really have the clout to carry out what they say or whether I am meeting a bunch of secretaries whose only ability is to say "Would you like cream and/or sugar" and "I'll pass this up the ladder.". What you want the other side to say is that since it is your side that is offering to meet, they should just walk in and trust that it isn't a setup. I wouldn't expect that of any side, why should you expect that of the side of your opponent?

Boehner endorses C-Span's Request Fpr Public Health Care Negotiations -January 6, 2010

House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) is strongly endorsing a request from the head of C-SPAN that the public have full access to health care negotiations as Democratic leaders continue to indicate they will shut the American people out and write a final bill behind closed doors.

Of course, that was over a month ago.

Didn't "your guys" do the same thing before with their closed door "discussions", aka buying of votes? "You vote for this, I give you that."? Now that they can no longer ignore the other side, the come running back wanting a "discussion". And you expect the other side to trust them and feel good about it? Really?

Your whole attitude has been "We have the WH and we have Congress and a super majority. Take it or leave it. Screw you if you don't like it.". Now that things have changed and you are no longer filibuster proof, you want the other side that you snubbed to just come running when you call? Get real. I'd want to make sure of what I am getting into before I go running into some unknown situation. If you are too stupid to do that, you deserve to get your butt beat. Trust does not exist. Blind trust is for the stupid. Trust has not been earned yet, has it?

It could be or it might not. I would certainly want to make sure before I walked in. If it were a friend inviting me in, MAYBE. OTOH, if it was my adversary, why wouldn't I want to know more before blindly walking in?

What political party trusts another?
Not sure of the unknowns you're referring to. Any policies are public knowledge, which is why they don't like 'em, as are the folks on the other side.
The republicans are understandably camera shy. And had the previous eight years to do something about it.
He's just trying to make as many excuses as possible, regardless of how implausible, you know, the more you talk, the more you know about a subject, right?

if he had not lied about HIS transparent administration and something about C Span who has said no one ever even called them about doing anything right from the beginning, he telepromp and his ilk think they can now at the 12 hour change the rules and blame the right that were never in the room when it has all gone down GOOD luck with this idea

it would be a shame if the right just sits on their hands and in 7 / 8 months than ,take the government back but they can and the people will let them

but i hope they are in the mix and show just how bad it is when the hard left in charge, not a lot if difference when the hard right, were in charge we need all sides to come and fix what ( they ) together broke --

the tea party will vote both sides out this coming election and it matters not what is said on the OD it is going to happen, than i think HC will go after the o dude and the end will come slow but she will take him out in 2012 -- jz
