The new CEO of Government Motors gets a 9 million buck pay package.

Its creeping apathy amongst the masses - a sense that nobody in power is doing the right thing and there's nothing that can be done about it. All the shouts of outrage cause nothing more than a shrug as they go to cash their checks.

The story says the guy is getting $1.7 mill salary and the rest is in stock options. If the company does good the options are worth something. If not the options are worthless.

I know a number of people who make at least $1.7 mill a year. One runs a transportation company, one owns a number of oil wells and one is a film producer. None of them have the responsiblity of a person who runs GM.

I am suprised they could find someone who would work for so little.

I know it sounds like a large package, but that's what it costs to hire someone qualified. It's still cheaper than a decent shortstop.
